Actually it was not realised by Gary Fisher alone that the MTB came about it was Gary Fisher, Charlie Kelly, Tom Ritchey and Joe Breeze. The big daddies of the fat tire. :thumbsup:

Alright, spent 3 days doing up my bike, clearing away all the grim and dirt and rust.
Making it sparkling clean and ready to go cycling for the first time in 3 years.
This morning is the time, cycling up Mount Faber, feeling great that at last i have the time to cycle again.

Then here comes the nightmare for my 1st cycling trip in 3 years.
Reached the Henderson Waves, was happily cycling at the side without causing any nuisance.
When i reached the end of the Henderson Waves, was "Told Off" by a security guard.
Didn't notice the guard there when i went there twice for photography.
Because of his stuck up attitude, decided to u-turn back, still cycling ignoring his shoutings.
When i reached the foot of Mount Faber, i thought why not go up from Telok Blangah Hill Park instead.
Up i went to the top of the hill, and reaching the Forest Trail towards Alexandra Arch.
While cycling down the trail, was "Told Off" yet again, this time by a man.
It was when pushing back up the trail then i notice the "NO CYCLING" sign.

This is the last straw, what a bad start to cycling again.
So off i go towards home sweet home again.
Conclusion, Southern Ridges prohibit cycling.
The few times i saw people cycling, they were lucky not to get caught.

I don't lock my bikes. They're kept inside my home. In fact, I don't even let them be out of sight when I'm outside. So therefore, I never ride my bike to buy things, I walk. I cannot even imagine ever losing my bike. :cry:

But if you really have to ride to buy stuff, make sure you have a really GOOD lock. Do also ensure that you lock a few parts of your bike together, making it harder for the thief to steal.

Finding a GOOD lock for your bicycle is a problem sometimes.

One quick way to lock the bike without having to worry that someone will ride it away is to use a small shackle lock.

The picture shows an unusual way of using a Montery security lock on a road bike.
You cannot so easily use a bolt cutter to cut this lock as there is no space for the
cutter to hold onto.

Sometimes bringing a heavy huge shackle "U" lock is not convenient on short trips
to the market or to the Seven Eleven store.
The tiny Montery lock does the trick.

Wah..... the GT Zaskar and GT LTS-3..have not seen those bikes in a while...the Zadsar was a fine frame to built upon for racing You still ride the Kestrel 200 SCI.

I actually haven't even given thought to the budget, haha. Just looking for something lightweight but sturdy, definitely something good quality. I dunno head or tail of buying bicycles... just know that I'm looking for something for a full-day photo projects/ outings... which one of these would suit my purchase? :think:

Going for a full-day photo projects/outings can be exciting
as well as productive depending on what you want to achieve
at the end of the day.

Assuming you are going to use a DSLR and serious enough to use
the tripod then you need a foldable that has a rear rack with a
basket so that you could attach the tripod to it. It is not wise
to carry the tripod on your back while cycling.

Your accessories and lenses will be in a camera bag fastened
properly on the basket which is attached to the rear rack.
However you could also enjoy outings by going on the lighter
side just by carrying your DSLR on a pouch attach to your waist.

Another way is to have your gear on a small lightweight travel
suitcase fastened securely on the rear rack of your bike. Your
tripod should be inside the suitcase.

I prefer to use a bike with 26 inch wheel so that the Manfrotto
190 or taller tripods could be attached to the rear rack and
the camera bag on the basket.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a camera bag which suit for cycling.
I have a GT Ava 3.0, use it mainly for commuting.
I also do cycle to East Coast every weekend from Pasir Ris via Changi Beach.

Just got me a Canon 40D kit, now lack of tripod and camera bag to begin pick up my old hobby(stopped for two years due to expensive film)

wow.. sounds a bit pricier.. but seems like they have better parts than the older version.

I dont think there is an 08 version? only saw the 09 or 07 version here:

Nah,I sold the Kestrel with full ultegra for a song years ago, still kicking my butt for doing that until now...haha...
