I've just gotten my first ever mountain bike (after 3 road bikes). One thing I've learnt, when you are shag out, no what what bike you are riding, it will still be tough going :bsmilie:

haha.. but surely a mountain bike shag one out faster than a road bike?
Anyway wheres the picture taken? Cool shot with the rays shining through :bsmilie:
It's an Avalanche 1.0.
I started looking for Jamies Trail X2 , X3, Durango 1, Ava 3 , 2 then finally 1.0.
Starting to get confused then settled for the Ava 1.0 for its parts and it comes with clipless peddles, no need to spend more $ to buy.
Your white Ava1.0 design is much nicer than my 06 model.![]()
Yours are nice too, with red fork somemore![]()
BTW your front fork is what brand?
Thanks i like the shot too, photo taken near Punggol End.
Ya mountain bike very shiong, I almost resorted to pushing my bike out of Punggol End, haa...no la, just used granny gear :embrass:

The beauty of a mountain bike is that you can go off road to be with nature as well as
on the road if you choose a tire that can do both. Once you are well versed into riding the
MTB both on and off road it is time you can think of upgrading the tires. This will also
depend on how often you ride in both disciplines.
The Maxxis lite 310 offers me the advantage of riding smoothly on the road (much lighter
than a pair of knobby tires for sure).
The advantage of the Ava 1.0 is because of the extra granny gear over the 2.0 or 3.0
with its 9 speed instead of the 8 speed.
The Suntour fork isn't amazingly light, however it's very smooth and reliable, the lockout
allows you to use it just like a rigid fork especially when you are riding on the road.
The Suntour fork requires almost no maintenance other than normal cleaning when it is dirty.
Other high performance forks require frequent maintenance to keep them in tip top
conditions.
On how to choose the type of suspension fork:

Enjoy mountain biking!

Changed my Ava2.0 to a 9 speed too.
Have a spare shifter and brake levers, so converted it.![]()
So we have 2 things in common, GT bikes and Nikon camera and lenses
So you changed the hubs, crank and derailuers?
Good to see the bicycling thread is moving and surviving heh... usually it last like just enough to get an answer or something and then poof heh.
You sure....some of the thread at togoparts can be pretty lengthy heh....I think it's more active than a dedicated bike forum ;p
