Cotton Carrier Camera System

Alright, got my CC a few hours ago from Mauler. Thanks for delivering it to me!

I was a bit skeptical at first because I tested it out in school for about half an hour and everything seemed to jam or was really difficult to take out, jerking at least 3-4 times before the camera could be dismounted.

I read the info sheet and they recommended putting a little bit of vaseline. I came home, applied lots of vaseline, cleaned it up, and tried it on. After about 15mins of working it in, I think it performs very well.

Bending down isn't a problem anymore. I put the camera on (400D gripped + 17-40L) and walked around my house doing normal stuff for about 10min and I didn't feel the strain or feel like it was cumbersome. I poured cereal & milk, opened windows, turned on lights, bent down to pick up some rubbish, and the camera never got in the way.

S$230+? Yeah, expensive. I'm certain the cost will be justified sooner or later, but for now, yes, it's friggin steep. Great product, though.

I'll get some pics of me in action next time.

Cheers,
Zexun

I contacted CCCS about your issue. Awaiting their reply.

We'd like to see a domesticated you wearing the Carrier with camera. Muahaha!

I emailed CCCS before I read your post.

Guess what? Andy Cotton himself wrote back and wanted to call me! How's that for customer service?

Anyway, I replied that things were better with the reapplication of vaseline and that I'll see how things go with you.

Perhaps you may wish to contact Andy directly at info@cottoncarrier.com.

I love it when manufacturers care enough to want to call their customers. I wish I got that for my lemon of a car.

I like to refer to him as "the cool guy chewing gum while riding his bike and shooting 10fps while dissing neck straps". Awesome!

The tightness only happens on the holster now, so I believe the problem is that it's a little tight from production. A little wearing in will help - 10 min of using the insert system on the vest and it was alright after that. Hope I don't have to keep oiling it, though.

Cheers,
Zexun

The cool gum-chewing guy still wants to call me. I should hear from him at about 10AM.

If only Steve Jobs would do an Andy Cotton for the problems HIS customers face. Muahaha!

I spoke to Andy Cotton this morning.

He said it's not unusual to have to attach and detach the camera from the carrier a number of times before the operation becomes smooth. In short, break it in.

The gum-chewing man IS cool. Very good of him to take a personal interest in his products AND customers. Easy to talk with, too. We hit it off like old friends almost immediately.

Anyway, he mentioned the holster being one of the things people would like to buy only. He went for a walk this past week with one attached to his belt (iirc) and got bruised. For now, the holster is not designed for that purpose and would go well only with the carrier or a proper camera bag with means to attach the holster to.

He also said they are in the process of designing new things so I guess we should watch here for updates.

Andy: If you are reading this, please correct any mistakes I've made. I've got swiss cheese for brains. Ta!

If there is further interest in this product, I'd be happy to do another MO. After the previous few, I only ask that buyers come to me to collect/pay for their carriers.

Interested parties please post a reply to this thread. Do NOT PM me. Let's keep this open. I'll close this MO by Saturday, 5 September 2009. I will only proceed with the MO if there are ten (10) or more parties interested. Please do not treat the MO as in a willy-nilly fashion because I am taking a financial risk on your behalf. Once confirmed, backing out/change of mind will not be entertained. To maintain that, a 20% deposit will be required, refundable, free of interest, should the MO fall through. The deposit will be collected via arrangment prior to placing a final order with CCCS.

I reserve the right to cancel the MO at anytime before an order is placed with CCCS. Once deposits have been collected, the MO will be honoured.

Thanks!

Mods: I apologise if the above isn't in line with the requirements of this forum. Feel free to remove this post if necessary.

Bro, I would propose using Mass Sales thread to conduct the mass order. This thread is meant for personals to share their reviews and ideas on the product. There are rules need to follow in CS. :)

I figured there are rules, hence the blurb to the mods.

I don't read that section much but I'll have a gander.

Thanks!

Update:

I took a look at the MO section. I think I'll leave it to others with more time and inclination. Ha ha!

Has anyone actually gone out in public wearing the kit?

i wore it in school. All my friends said i looked like CIA, and i got looks from my teachers. Haha.

Also do note that cccs isn't selling the cc for awhile more until their supplier can cope.

I understand, there is a way out if it is pure no profit. One can contact the Admin, Darren to seek for exemption, as it is for the community benefit.

BTW I got the CC from impresza, I will probably make some modification cos I feel like pregnant woman with a came system sticking from my belly (my belly is already not small). Trying to see if it can be push to slightly the left side. Like a side chest gun holster

This looks interesting! I remember during my NS days, my unit commanders were trying out a similar system for secondary arms where secondary and side arm can be locked onto the vest, similar to this mounting so that your four hands were free to move about.. I know it was better than slinging.. but not practical..

looks like this is a practical system!

Would it work for someone with a belly though? :embrass:

It actually can work for armed forces personal IMO.

For big belly a bit odd as stated in my post from my big belly experience, that's why I am thinking to make it to wards the side chest holster type.

I just got back from a bike ride and I'm too tired to think for now.

Maybe I'll ask Darren for an exemption.

The four who purchased from me will vouch that I sold them strictly on cost only. I even furnished documentary proof!

Perhaps I should have charged a little more for petrol. Muahaha! ;p

I may be interested in an MO for this; but need to see the price though. And I would like to add that if you have 10 orders, there is a good chance that you can ask CC to give you a wholesaler/reseller discount. I used to do MOs (before we needed to pay for it here) and such discounts were commonplace, resulting in much cheaper prices lesser than that found in retail outlets. Of course, this product isn't even found in retail outlets here.

Perhaps someone else would like to do it?

I am not sure about bulk discount. Anyway, my cost was posted somewhere in this thread. The only thing that will be lowered is the shipping.
