i m looking for a pancake lens for my 350d. I m considering the cz 45/2.8, ultron 40/2, pentax 40/2.8. any advice?

the cz 45 is nothing spectacular.
you can try it if you like but it may be quite hard to af since the lens is really flat and small.

i dont know about the other 2 lenses.. i am not even sure which ultron you might be refering to.

Having high fever with Contax lately, all started by an Aria. Is eyeing at the RTS III but price very high at $2000. Found some but not agreeable to the condition for the asking price.

Also got a RTS II and are actually very happy with that body. Will be ideal if 1/8000 and flash sync at 1/250. Only complaint is when in flash TTL mode no shutter speed indication for existing light. I very much like the bright red LEDs. Guess being a dinosaur in photography I still prefer red LEDs to LCDs.

Me too! In fact, I even prefer analog needle meter for metering information. Even the slightest changes in lighting condition can be detected by the movement of the needle pointer.

actually the glass is the main draw for the Contax system. You could pick up a Yashica body and then go lens shopping. There is (to me ) no need to spend that kinda of money on the body, better to spend it on glass.

I had a canon 24/2.8 and 28/2.8 but sold them cos didnt like the image quality. Do you think the 28/2.8 distagon is much better? Will you use it instead of a autofocus zoom? I want to get a compact walkaround lens.

i can guarantee the D28 2.8 c/y cz lens is a fantastic lens
very good value for money.
you will love the micro contrast and excellent control on CA

I hesitated about getting the 28/2.8 cos i think the lens is a bit long in length 50mm. Now i find my voigtlander 40/2 a bit short 30mm. But i am more interested in a 24mm lens.

Hi Contax users,

I am a contax user. Used to take slides on my Aria with 28mm , 50mm and 85mm. Understand that nowsaday there is no more manual print for slides , I have convert to digital but reusing my contax lens on Canon 400D. Anyone done a comparison for digital print and slides to print? Also good lab to recommend for slides to print?

for color, I like 85mm, 25mm, no one can beat.

for contrast, I like 100/2 , 28/2, nikon is loser.

best three contax lenses for contax lovers:25/2.8mm, 35/1.4mm and 100/2.8macro-planar

for limited version, 45/2.8T not ideal, 135/2 not effective as canon 135/2
85mm F1.2 overpriced, and still not sharp as imaging. 55/1.2 too expensive, sharp, but have purple ringe when sun light strong.

50/1.7, same as pentax M 50/1.7, 50/1.4 can not beat leica R50/1.4 and 50/2. so, not recommend.
