Confidence in PENTAX?

Of coz got confident.

Otherwise would not come into this ship :)

Yeah i got the K10D because of the value, history and power over the Olympus E-510, just that i've got friends that are very eager to prove that i've made a mistake...

Just compare dynamic range in RAW format lor. The E-510's pitiful Panasonic NMOS sensor is no match for the Sony sensor in the K10D. Try recovering slight overexposed highlights and you get pinkish skies and wedding gowns :o

Also Pentax's DSLR like all the other 135-based formats have the option of going FF (36x24mm) for even more megapixels (not necessarily a good thing) without compromising on dynamic range and noise.

The FT format has some strong benefits in its design, most notably telecentric lens design so there is less vignetting and generally good corner-to-corner sharpness.

You all are so nice... i just got an old 50mm F2 from a fellow member for real cheap, now im so much happier :D I think yeah, after all its the pictures that matter yeah? Pentax will live on!

How wrong can you go when you are supported by some of the best lenses ever made plus some very exciting range in the making. :)

Pentaxian are always the "odd-one" out. During outing usually we are the only one using Pentax. ;)

Yeah ................ that's what makes us stand out in a crowd. ;)

On the downside, there is no one to loan you equipment if you need it in a hurry ........ :(

Aiyah bro, Pentax camera bodies are so much more affordable now (K10D body now less than US$600, K100D Super & K100D even cheaper) that you can afford to buy more than one camera body without breaking the piggy bank. That will solve your equipment redundancy issue. :bsmilie:

Frankly speaking at times I can't help holding my breathe when I want to look for lens/glass. It take a while though but still possible.

True, especially from people like you .............. :bsmilie:

camera is like your 妻子, how can let strangers touch touch .................:blah:

I don't know if anyone knows about this, but I managed to dig some insider info on two new lenses (for DA) that will be announced early next year, and both lenses are not on the current list. Makes you wonder what it's gonna be right? :D

On the other hand, I hold my breathe when I see a Pentax lens.
Then I start wondering if I should buy, and my wallet start aching, then my wife gets unhappy...
Oh... You guys know the drill...

In fact, I heard from at least two different stores who back ordered Pentax, but Shiros, just got no reply ...There are demand for Pentax extremely short of supply. ...& believe that reasonable price stores those who stock Pentax are having stock out ...and re-order no reply...Maybe safe for K200 OR 20D

Wow... That's a strange behavior for a distributor. I guess Shirro have to pray hard that Pentax HQ doesn't see this post, otherwise....

Well... Maybe the next alternative is to go for grey. I visit OP once a while and they always have stock for pentax item. Camera, lenses or flash are always there. :)

How do you overcome warranty issue with grey items? Will there be a problem if there is a need for servicing?

Well, they keep their promise. I exchanged my K100D within first week when the LCD has got some dust enter into it. They gladly exchange for it. Their shop warranty is 1 year and within it, anything issue can go back to them.

This apply to their PnS too. I got a small nikon PnS for my sch project and its working very well till now. The price was real low.

Any issue would be sent back to their origin for the distributor to repair. This is what they told me. :)

Hmm... Another alternative is maybe some others had said, go over to malaysia and get the items since it's from the same distributor. :)

Let me answer your question about buying grey set. I have bought a few grey items from OP; some in the thousand-dollars range. I have no issues with their in-store warranty so far. While the equipment is under warranty, they will gladly do a 1-to-1 replacement if it is unrepairable. Otherwise, they will ship FedEx to the respective service centre in Shanghai and it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks before you can have it.

My experience with OP has be very positive so far. In fact, I have recommended a few friends and students of mine to buy from them (non-commissioning of course). Their reactions have been positive also.

I do know something but I don't know mine is realiable. ;)

Hmm, seems you guys are more resourceful than I am nowadays :embrass:

But I guess eventually our long waiting will be rewarded w/ some good stuff by Pentax :bsmilie:
