Confidence in PENTAX?

Let me answer your question about buying grey set. I have bought a few grey items from OP; some in the thousand-dollars range. I have no issues with their in-store warranty so far. While the equipment is under warranty, they will gladly do a 1-to-1 replacement if it is unrepairable. Otherwise, they will ship FedEx to the respective service centre in Shanghai and it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks before you can have it.

My experience with OP has be very positive so far. In fact, I have recommended a few friends and students of mine to buy from them (non-commissioning of course). Their reactions have been positive also.

I Agree with you bro OP is one of the FEW trusted Camera shops here in Singapore.. for me CATHAY and OP (Recommended by our fellow Pentaxian NoMoney) dnt worry about buying Grey as long as its good quality it should be fine:

I find AP (only the branch in SLS though) pretty reliable too...
Somehow the branch in Funan seems a little dodgy to me...
But in any case, if you are going SLS, OP and AP are both in the same building, no harm checking both out...

yeah no harm checking out both, but I find that AP at SLS is as dodgy as AP in Funan. Their salesmen behave and look similar to the rest of the dodgy camera shops.

Stick to Steven or Alan to be on the safe side. Somebody bought a lens from AP/SLS despite the young salesman telling him no testing was allowed

Turns out the lens had mechanical problems and it was a customer returned unit. Went back there and was told to send back to agent for repair instead because they don't do refunds

Wao... How can do business like that... :thumbsd:

First no testing, then faulty cannot refund and must send to agent to repair. Since its a "customer returned" unit, how come cannot exchange a new 1 for the guy who bought it since the previous customer had returned it.

The sales person knew there was a problem with the lens and instead of returning it to the agent he chose to sell it to the next sucker that comes along. Maybe less paper work that way?

Hmm... Perhaps bah. Agree with you. Due to his laziness, AP "brand name" and reputation would be affected. To be frank, before I came across this thread, I already got bad exp with them. So its not surprise to see "another victim" :bsmilie:

I think we better go back on track. It's about Pentax but not AP. :)

Wow... That's very bad... Any idea which salesman that is?
Yeah... I look for Steven when I'm there.

Heh heh... it was a Pentax lens and you know how it is when buying Pentax lenses in SG... if you need it and you find it in the shop, grab it... because it could be another 6 months before another lot arrive in SG.

Haha... Ok. Understood. :) Anyway, to me AP is a shop that I would not visit again since the first incident :)
