very competative as compare to more than 10 years ago when started off with linear editing, u-matic, svhs camera... :dunno:
struggling to keep afloat
Well lots of idiotic students spoil the market just check out this link - these are the peeps that cause pros with family to support to eat grass

hopes tat boy has becomes pro and starts to charge higher.. (tat was 2 years back posting ;) ).

hopes consumers can understand tat they are hobbyist.. (at your own risk)...
to consumers.. strongly suggest to hire the pros and the freelancers.. we will not take your job for play play..

Actually I won't say that pros sure trouble free and freelance sure trouble. There are many good freelancers around, as well as there are many troubles even with so called professinals.

Of course, the probabilities of each would change, probably linearly, when you go across the spectrum. But I don't think that there is any artificial line that is crossed from FL to Pros that automatically give any changes.

sorry if i have mislead u.. wat i mean is hire the pros AND the freelancer instead and avoid hobbyist.. of cos any mis understanding will cos trouble regardless of whether u are pros, freelancers or hobbyist.. but atleast the pros and freelancers will take your work more serious.. and not play play lor.

cheers:D

Very simple theory.....pros/freelancers who do this for a living have their reputations at stake because their ricebowls are at stake......hobbyist who do this for extra income can afford to play-play because they already have a main income source. ;)

However, we cannot shut out the possibility of serious hobbyist who does what we do for passion too.

Then the vicious cycle comes when the serious hobbyist who (like some of us) decided to stick to passion and go pro, will start to realise what to do, what not to do, why it's not worth to undercut, over-promise due to inexperience, or whatever. :P ;D

Well my point was just that even full time professionals end up in disputes with customers - so I don't think that people should say things like "Want trouble? Get a hobbyist. Don't want trouble? Get a Pro".

well, as wat i have said.. regardless whether you are pros, feelancers, or hobbyist, any misunderstanding will cos trouble.. ;)
cheers:)
