Was reading the CompactDrive website and the user manual, doesn't say what size drives it can be purchased with. Also, there is mention of the optional car adaptor, but no other info on it.

From the replies within this thread, and the Eastgear website, is 80BG the largest capacity? And also is the car adaptor available?

Kenneth, I think its maxed at 80gig according to the specs, not sure if a firmware flash will let it use the larger 100Gig drives in the market. Maybe you can email them to ask?

There was this shop on 4F (forgot the name, specialises in selling PDAs) selling the PD70X for $315 (Samsung 40GB HDD 3 yr warranty) or $249 (casing only). Prices inclusive GST. This is much cheaper than Eastgear's $349 for the same 40GB package (also using the same HDD).

Me? Considering the Digimate.. budget constraint

Hi TRD, thanks for the scouting, I've seen the PD70X going with the 40gig also at around 305-310. But don't forget that Eastgear sold the combi at the recent computer fair at ard $299 w 40gig if I'm not mistaken.

Hence I think for the MO to be good.. must be even cheaper than that, which is what we'll find out soon

It is not a promise that confirm can get a better price.
In the first thread of this subject, i already inform all of you that i will be going there to scout for cheaper one, if have better rate, then i will buy.

just wondering.. If EastGear is the manufacturer of Compact Drive, how can you get lower price than what EastGear is offering???

Also a Word of advice, this CompactDrive does not work well with 10GB hard disk (which I experienced). EastGear ppl told me best to use 40GB. Do verify with them if you want to use any other Hard disk capacity to avoid any frustation...

It's manufactured by Sanho Digital of Taiwan; EastGear is just the local distributor (maybe worldwide apart from Australia). As it is, the Compactdrives are available for less than what EastGear is asking if you know where to look.
