Packages available from Harvey Norman at $1199, $1299 n $1599 respectively.....

1)E-520 with 14-42mm kit
2)E-520 with 14-42mm and 40-150mm kit
3)E-520 with 14-42mm, 40-150mm and 70-300mm kit

wonder how true it is... or mistaken for E510?

Partly true, except for the third package. The third one is still a twin lens kit without the 40-150mm. I bought the E-520 last night. Prices are correct for all three bundles.

geez darn good deal for package 3 even without the 40-150...

I have been looking at price.com.hk recently, the E-520 kit (1) in quote above has taken another dip to HKD $4,500, which works out to be approximately $790... ;p
I'm heading to macau this weekend, if the Venetian casino decides to be generous, I might just pop over to HK using their complimentary Cotai Jet tickets to get myself a E520 kit.... it's all in the roll of the dice....

There is an Electronic shop in the Venetian selling the E-520 kit for MOP5,140, although it is slightly more expensive than Hong Kong, but it saves you the trip to HK, and you can continue to roll the dice in the Venetian Casino ;)

hi all
was just checking, has anyone seen the E520's underwater case yet?
is it selling in singapore?
whats the price of it?
and lastly, do we need to buy a special underwater lens to use the E520 properly underwater?
thanks!

I think you'll have better luck getting the underwater housings from the US or Japan; price-wise, it should cost at least as much as the E-520.

The housing uses different ports for different lenses; each lens port should set you back around $350 - $400.

Lastly, the housing for the FL-36 is about $750 - it may be a better idea to get Sea & Sea strobes for your underwater lighting needs.

A full underwater setup plus the 520 should hit 5k to 8k on your wallet depending on the number of lenses.

ouch...
thats a lot of $$$..
thanks for the info though!

I thought normally people use macro lense for underwater, because you cannot really tele that much under water.
Anyway, I do not dive so that is simply what I heard from my diving friends :dunno:

Not necessarily. You can still use a tele up to 105 mm (like the sigma) to get 1:1 magnification. So, the tele is also used as a macro. But the Depth of field is very shallow.

Other lenses you can use are the wide angle lens for extreme close up. Why? Don't forget, a ultra wide has a extremely large depth of field and a very short minimum focusing distance. So, you can get shoot an object and still get alot of the surroundings in focus. Like a whale!

I believe Ivan Choong & Alvin HoWeiKok use a 500/510 underwater & they might be able to advise best. There's a shop at Golden Wall Short Street opposite Sim Lim Sq that deals with U/W stuff, ScubaCam, owner is an architect by training.

You need a housing for the body, & separate lens port for the lens. Just to name a few, Ikelite, Inon, Sea& Sea, which you can consider for U/W housings/strobes.

I might consider getting my friend who's going to Japan end of the year to buy for me an OlyE420 w pancake lens to replace my Canon S80, so small n handy.
