ClubSNAPpers in Melbourne..

Greetings fellows,

A little last minute but any recommendations on a good and affordable steakhouse not far from CBD?

Have sourced one (based on reviews) ... Collingwood at Yorkshire Hotel? Is this outlet really good?

Any similar ones?

Thank you.

Ehhh, no idea about the steak. Frankly most people would buy a good aged porterhouse from Victoria Market and cook it at home?

Check Urbanspoon, they should be able to provide you with all the info you need. But from word of mouth, I heard there should be a decent place for steak somewhere around Port Melbourne.

Greetings harnamsc,

Appreciate your feedback.

Cheers.

For your information, The Digital Show (digital photography expo) organised by Photo Marketing Association will happen at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from 26-27 May 2012, open 10am to 5pm.

As best as I know, entry is not free. Since I'm in the photographic industry, I will be given a trade pass to enter, and will go with colleagues.

I have already played with two Nikon D4 that have come into the workshop for CMOS cleaning. Today, there was a Nikon D800E in for CMOS cleaning. The D800E produces very nice sharp images at ISO100 but disappointingly soft from ISO3200. I haven't encountered the EOS 5D Mark III or EOS 1DX yet.

Nice to be able to play with these babies! I don't think the 800 series are meant to be good low noise performers, but they are comparable to the current crop of high MP 35mm class SLRs, and they are even giving the MF digital backs/cams a run for their money. But I've no intention of buying any new SLR for a while, still underutilising my existing gear.

Hope to see you at at the show, if you are going on a Sunday.

Greetings fellow CS members in Melbourne,

I am back from a wonderful but unfortunately a very short holiday in Melbourne (Apr 11-17th). As it was partly a guided tour, I have not really the chance to do justice to such a wonderful city. Am already looking forward to another visit; this time maybe in Spring!

Finally, I would like to especially thank keinc, Ansel, tangerine, harnamsc, sinned79, Jemapela, enchantedream, Zichar & engta for filling me up with my past queries. All the very best. Stay healthy. The coffee is truly infectious!

I will surely be there that weekend. My colleagues are likely to go on Saturday, but I may go on Sunday.

Is that spring in Australia or Singapore? =D

And no worries mate (as they say in Australia), maybe next time you can skip the tour and instead arrange a road trip with the other CSers in Melbourne. Frankly I'm surprised how come nobody thinks of doing that when they come to Melbourne?

That's a good idea. However it can be difficult to coordinate annual leave and travel plans/commitments with more than 2 persons. Some older age Singaporean members are also family men who have wife and children while some have partners.

For years, it has required several attempts to get ClubSnap members in Melbourne to come out together. I think it is because many are busy working or studying, or even have stronger interests in other recreation.

Anyway, the Digital Show happens this weekend. Hopefully some of us will meet.

I'd like to start a list of those going to the Digital Show at Melbourne Convention Centre this coming weekend. FYI, tickets are free if you register on line ahead of time at http://www.thedigitalshow.com.au/:

1) Jemapela (Sunday)
2) Ansel (Sunday, 10am to 3pm)
3)...

Please feel free to add you nick to the list if you are going. See you there!

Looks like we're in for clear skies and sunny weather this weekend. Anyone up for a hike-cum-photography trip to Mount Worth?

Hello! I need some spoonfeeding. Can you folks recommend a camera shop in Melbourne? A friend of mine would like to purchase a DSLR. Thanks! :)

Yup this is indeed a 'kopitiam' thread..........................:what:

*ahem*

cowmera: Your answer is..............eBay
No seriously, its much cheaper to buy online from the US now thanks to the current exchange rates.

John Wayne:Please see the following website >> Department of Immigration & Citizenship
No seriously, unless you are a Nobel-prize winning scientist with a viable means for cold fusion, you can honestly forget about securing a work permit without even setting foot in Australia. There are so many talented degree holders from China, UK, India, etc, in Victoria. What makes you assume Australian companies will be so keen to consider someone they can't immediately call for face-to-face interview when they're practically spoilt for choice here already?

If I sound sarcastic, its because my answers can be easily obtained within 10 minutes with help from big brother Google.
