I am one of those who bought from the IT Show. But I do not regret my decision because you must understand my situation:

I urgently need the camera for my trip on 13 April.
I went to a number of camera shops at Funan on the same day, none had a pre-order for Olympus.
In fact, I put my name down with 3 different shops to contact me if they have pre-order, and what do you know? NONE of them has even called me till now. :o
The IT Show booth, although it's owned by Courts, was manned by a lot of Oly staff. In fact the people I spoke to I assume were Oly staff and not Courts staff.
The staff were never pushy. In fact Steven was a very nice chap, and I trusted his words and found him honest, that's why I put down my money.
I don't think they ever promised 1st week April, all along I heard 2nd week or early April. But that was first day maybe after that they changed to drive sales.
I have contacted Steven few days ago, and I still find he's very professional and responsible. Just that he can't get a delivery date from Olympus but he's still trying.

Bear in mind, I'm the kind who never shops at superstores. I avoid them like mad because I used to be in a company that dealt with superstores a lot, so I know how they work. I also prefer to buy from specialty stores.
I also avoid IT Shows, because I know that the prices there are always high. I never visit IT Shows unless I have to, and I only went to this one because I knew the OM-D would be there.

For me personally I am not pissed with Courts. But I am pissed with Olympus for not being able to commit to a delivery date for Courts.
It's funny that, with a few emails, I could prise a delivery date from the Olympus Online CS. But Courts, until now, can't even give a firm date.

It was a risk you took by going against your usual practice. Unfortunately neither Courts nor Olympus has met your expectations this time round. If you made the pre-order knowing that the camera may not be delivered by 13 April, then I guess you probably have an existing camera system as your backup plan.

I can confirm that the salespeople at the Olympus / Courts IT Show booth stated clearly "1st week of April" as the delivery date. I later pre-ordered with my regular store MS Color and was told to expect a 3rd week of April delivery date barring any unforeseen circumstances. That time we both thought perhaps Courts had a special arrangement with Olympus, although it is quite unusual because authorised dealers are treated equally.

I wouldn't get upset at Olympus for not committing a delivery date to Courts. In the world of logistics, everything is done "just in time". If anything screws up, then it will not make it "in time". If Olympus gave a date to the superstores, it would be a later date so that it will not appear to break its promise if anything holds up the shipment. Courts should have done the same and give a conservative date, so that people who have tight schedules to meet will make backup plans.

:) so long as the guys that pre-ordered are cool with the explanation given by Courts. BTW a lot of the sales staffs on at the booth are from various mega-stores like harvey norman, Courts and all. Not from Olympus.

Just dislike and disgusted by the way the transaction was being conducted at IT Show. To me its misrepresentations and consumers have every right to demand something back. Its our blood sweat money ;)

In any case lets all pray it reaches our shores early. silencer13 care to share the date you gotten from Oly CS?

So what is the expected delivery date for the courts pre-order? And what explanation was given by courts?

Haha, yah I guess you're right. They just didn't meet my expectations this time. :o

But no, I do not have a backup camera - that's why I'm so kan cheong to get the camera. If I had an existing camera already, I wouldn't be bothered so badly.
All I have with me now are a Canon 300D and an Ixy 10. Both are very old models, the 300D I think is at least 10 years old.

Anyway, just to clarify, I'm not upset at all. I'm just very disappointed that the camera's not coming in time after so much hoo-ha, but at the back of my mind I always knew it was a possibility.
I think we just happened to speak to different people. The people I spoke to said 2nd week April, and even then they did warn "subject to change". So I was aware of the risk.

aaahua, paiseh, but I'll share this date on Monday after Courts (Steven) gets back to me on their delivery date.
I don't want to confuse matters or cause some minor panic here by sharing a date that's not so confirmed.

Bottom line, Singapore is a small country. The top management At Olympus can't be bothered if they offend such a small customer base.

If they were to pick a country to delay their shipment to feed other major market. Singapore sure to appear on the top of the list. Won't be surprised if Malaysia get their stocks on time.

Imagine 20 sets per batch per retailer, 3 batches filled. There are easily 10-15 retailers that can pre-order. So we are just bringing in about 600++ sets so far for up to the 3rd week of April? Not a lot consider Fuji's X100 sold 100k++ so far.

Raining? Fret not!

now is already first week of April, still no news in Singapore.

Heard stocks already in at Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and some Asian countries according to 43rumours.com

Never mention Singapore, i am now considering going to JB to get a set if still no news by next Mon.

I don't think Malaysia has it. Don't forget it's 43Rumors.

But I know that Hong Kong definitely has it. On DPreview, some users in Hong Kong have been buying it in the shops. Looks like only black color left in stock though, silver all sold out.

What makes you said that? Our market too small, only a tiny dot on the map. Won't blame them. Lol

I'm referring to Terada's claims that Singapore would be among the first countries in Asia to get stocks:

Also, when I contacted Olympus CS, the person also said the same thing.
Now Hong Kong has stocks, and not just pre-order stocks - there's even retail shops selling ready stock!!! ;(
But ours is still far far away, can't even smell.
