Clones For Flaming.

I have noticed the trend of people creating clone accounts for flaming. What's the stand on this issue? Do we report them?

There are lots of clones that are intended to be trolls ... nothing new.

Back to taking down the Coleen thread, perhaps an explanation is necessary. I do not see the reason that is necessary.

Please report specific cases to the mods/admins via PM and we will deal with them as appropriate.

Which thread are you referring to? I checked Tuck Loong's records and there seems to be only 1 thread that was removed, most likely due to his own request as there is another similar thread offering makeup/hair stylist services.

I have deregistered the clone account and I have a good idea who is behind the "Manfrotto" nick. So far the person has no other such offences from what I can see.

Again, please report such cases to mods/admins via PM ot use the "Report Post" feature if you feel that someone has violated the forum terms of use.

yups, its a thread started by tuck loong wif a particular photo, featuring top model colleen.
it was a lively discussion with some valid pointers on the functions of criticism until the invasion of the clones.

Don't forget, all the clones that are my personal trolls, like manfrotto, and let's not forget about quicksilver, just to name a few.

Kind of makes me proud that someone, who Roy said he has a very good idea who the person is, actually took the time to register a clone nick, for the sole purpose to be my personal trolls.

The problem is everytime I am irritated enough to think about taking some action to restore some sanity back around me, regarding these clones/trools, the mod/admin lock the thread. Worse this time around, they deleted the thread.

If I am not mistaken, Tuck Loong removed/deleted that thread because there was simply too much trash from posters.

When critics start asking questions about what equipments were used, it usually means the pictures is so ho hum, they have nothing much to say.

Back to the picture. I know you did not ask for C&C, but C&C is what you will get.

The lighting sucks. Her model's face is blown. That white furry thing, it's blown. Getting the exposure spot on is extremely important, it fundamental photography. I assume you have multiple lights and various light modifiers. This should never happen. This cannot happen for any professional photographers.

The handling of the color and skin tone sucks. The model's face and her body could very well have come from 2 different persons.

Styling, well, that thing which I assume to be the skirt, may actually be a winner, but not in this position and not how it's situated.

That red curtain at the back, is it supposed to be closed or openned. Right now, looks like the photographer did not pay any attention. Since you in your linke thread was taking big about shooting teathered, what happened? No one checked the image? Oh, I forgot, you shot with a 300D. But still, it's the art director's job if there is one on thet set, but the photographer is always responsible, to make sure all the edetails are as planned.

I thought a test shoot means a model comes in for a shoot free of charge for portfolio purposes, and the photographer is obligated to give in return, shots for her portfolio. I did not know test shoots means pictures that is not touched up. Is this a new term in the industry?

If you were trying to promote the stylist, you did a lousy job here.

i will agree with DP on what he said and he rocks. through his critiques, i see things better and those nitpicks are actually important. they can spoil a good photo. he's not rude nor arrogant. i will say he's straight-forward and i like that!

Yours isn't criticism, yours is slamming. You do it like you are angry.

If you can slam all you want in an area that you yourself suck in, why not slam people for looking unattractive also? Isn't it because you've seen yourself in the mirror?

Shouldn't that apply to the subject of other people's photography here also?
Why don't you go on other websites and slam on other subjects, since you don't have to be good at any subject to criticize on it?

Straight-forward is if someone does something to you and you tell them to back off if you don't like it. Deadpoet is not just being straight-forward. He uses derogratory terms to criticise others. Such language is unnecessary to get the points and tips across. Nobody's offended him directly. So he has no right to offend others.

In the army, my platoon had a really wimpy guy. Some of my platoon mates would wake him up in the middle of the night to drag him out of bed and lock him in the cupboard. Sure, over time, he improved and became more of a man. But do you think he should be grateful?

How about someone if takes a baseball bat and bashes Deadpoet in the head for looking and talking like an asshole? Oh it's ok as long as they throw in a few useful pointers as well?

When I first look at the photo, I think it's great, much better than any photo I can produce.

But I do find DP critic valid though, after looking for sometime and look into the details. If we can read DP C&C - @#$%^ , we can learn a lot from him.

But photography is also quite a subjective matter, we may not agree with other people view all the time. Well, as long as the photographer and the client is happy with the work, that should be sufficient. But the photographer probably can impove further by looking into those detail.

All these discussions in this thread and the words used to snub and hit back at each other, sadly, is unhealthy.

People, we do not have to agree on everything under the sky but atleast, I believe, we should give respect. It really does not reflect well, when all you guys want to do is snub and take revenge, it is really a bit childish.

Having said the above, I agree with DP on the points he raised on the photograph in question, though, I do not agree with him on the tone he used.

On a personal note to DP, I have seen your C & C on photographs, most if not all, are valid technically. I personally learned a few things from your posts, but with your tone you are really losing your respect. And I believe you do not deserve this, because, you are good as a critic. Just take a little bit more effort to tone down your words and see the positive effect it has.

I mean you say you will squash mosquito lah. Nobody see you squash mosquito before mah. So you are not being a man of your word mah... get it?

I saw nothing wrong with what DP had posted. He was straight and to the point. Id kill for C&C like that. If people cant take what he has to say, then IMO they shouldnt be posting.

As for clones for flaming, well that just brings a whole new meaning to lame!
