Christmas Super Deals on K5 - $12xx from Shops Now!

For those who, for any reason, wish to upgrade to the K5, but can't... here's a great read from TOP.

Sure consoles me. I'll hang onto my > 2-year-old K7 till it gives out. :)

Well, I don't think I'd upgrade beyond the K5, but Pentax has always made me think twice everytime. :bsmilie:

i will most likely keep my K7 as a 2nd body

By his account, I should all sell away my Pentax and shoot with my handphone's camera. :bsmilie:

The K5 is one of those a cameras with such a signficant leap over the previous models that its the camera to get. $12xx is a great price. A camera that can last 2-3yrs.

The dynamic range in raw. The faster af. Iso80 and low low noise at low iso. Night iso performance. WR and build quality. No other aps-c camera is better.

D7000 is on par . But more expensive .

Not really . Consider the full Wr vs partial Wr .

Also d7000 only allow 3 multi exposer , as compare to k5 9

Not forgetting the in body SR

Exactly.
On top of what has been mentioned above.
Size.
On camera HDR.
Pixel mapping
Picture/WB setting review and saving

SR itself is already worth it over no SR.

Now all this at $12XX.

Yes, in body shake reduction can make any lens mounted on K5 a VR lens, and you can't get any WR lens from Nikon for less than 200sgd :)

D7000 is a great camera, but I'd say K5 is definitely a better buy between these two.

You guys don't get to see how violently I am nodding my head on whatever you guys praised upon the K-5. All because of this promo price, I finally am able to buy a K-5. Wow I thought my old trusty K20D was a fantastic camera, then K-5 is just simply marvellous.

maybe i should go grab my 2nd for backup :)

Congrats! I'm sure K5 would work better for what you usually do :)

I just grabbed one from OP couple of days ago. My hands were trembling with excitement! Compared to the K-x it is a bigger camera, but gives a very good impression with regard to the build quality. I have held a D7000 before, but this just feels better! Not sure if I got the last piece or not because it was hidden behind the bookshelves.

Hey, any one has any luck with buying K5? Most places I inquired are all out of stock for k5 :(

If the promo price is so low, imagine what the price will be in a few months... (eagerly anticipates...) but hope my K-x continues to work well until it gets replaced!

hmmm... that is what i hope for the k-r but the price bounce back up :(

Thanks Fengwei. Yes the K-5 did work better than my K20D, but I experienced some low light AF issues and still getting used to the controls. Just upgraded the firmware so hoping it will solve the AF issue. As for my K20D, I think it will keep it as a backup body since no one is interested to buy in BnS. ;p
