China Angry At Hostage-Taker's Funeral

There is only 1 person who committed the crime here. The rest are actions that clearly offended a lot of people, not just HK nationals. I believe I clearly pointed that to you.

You can throw insults at the ineptitude of the police force. That's fine with me. And I believe with the majority of the Filipino people too. Coz seriously they deserved to be derived.

You can throw insults at the police force for the photo ops. That's fine with me. And I believe with the majority of the Filipino people too. Coz seriously they deserved to be derived.

You can throw insults at those students for the photo ops. That's fine with me. And I believe with the majority of the Filipino people too. Coz seriously they deserved to be derived.

But to generalize, insulting the Filipino people including the innnocent ones (that's 90++ percent of the population), that is abhorable. For somebody in HK to fire a maid because of this incident, that is totally unfair.

That is why I keep saying and hoping that the cooler heads will prevail. A tit for a tat will not do anybody good.

:Later,
I certainly did not insult 90++ percent of the population. You must be talking about someone else.

As for somebody fire a maid because of this incident, tell me, are you sure it really happened and not the Philippines propaganda dept. at work? Are you sure it is not because the maid under performed and get fired but use this excuse to gather sympathy? All I am saying is: I don't know and you don't know this is actually the fact, so please don't mix rumors with facts as you so keenly try to establish in the posts above.

i read with interest in this thread and see that there are different views in this matter. i believe generally we all feel the pain and sadness for the victims and i am sure none of us here is happy that it happened.

let us look at the facts:

1. the crime is indeed committed by a lone kidnapper/killer
2. the police force swat team that conducted the raid is useless for that matter, or rather i read that the officer-in-charge is incompetent as there were other highly trained and skillful special force personnel available at site but they were not called to act. strange... (maybe some political reasons or competition between different sections)
http://raissarobles.com/2010/08/27/elite-commando-units-sidelined-in-hostage-fiasco/
3. i am sure majority of the people of Philippine felt bad and even angry about the way the hostage situation was handled and it was indeed an international ridicule that was live telecast worldwide.
4. some people are not sensitive to the feelings of the victims and did silly things like posing and taking photos at the hostage site as if on holiday. yes they are inconsiderate but they are they, not the entire nation.
5. as for the flag covering the coffin by the family members of the killer, well i guess they have different feelings and they are doing something they like, but then again it is not against their law so i guess the government cannot force them actually.
6. we may even have people who supported this inhuman act of the killer but majority of the human race will feel against the killer. there are black sheeps around in any place.

i have read many articles and seen many videos and commentaries on this hostage event and we have to agree that this deadly outcome can in fact be avoided. the are numerous mistakes made by the authorities had resulted in the terrible outcome.

One video commentaries on the event and discussion on the bungled hostage rescue operation:

i am a singaporean and i feel for the families of the lost ones and lets hope such a situation will not happen again and the various government agencies in the world can learn in improve in their rescue operations. i like the serbian special force rescue demonstration:

So they did use butter-knives. Nuff said.
JIX, you are really good at deflecting the real issue with some other irreverent ones. But, for the sake of argument, let say Mendoza has a butter knife instead of M16, do you think he can still kill the 8 person using the butter knife while the SWAT team try to break open the bus windows and doors? If my memory serve me correctly, the SWAT team took almost an hour to break inside the bus.

Nuff said.

A butterknife at close range is not necessarily less effective than an M16 pointing on the ground in a confined space.

Really? Ease up on watching kung fu movies man :bsmilie:

Have you not consider why assault teams carry a side arm?

enough said?

mods - maybe it's time to close the thread?

Do you really expect me to answer this man? This clearly shows your level of maturity. :dunno:

I would say the same thing when I have nothing to say too. Nuff said.

Don't believe everything you read. Otherwise, you would also believe Jinggoy Estrada had his passport thrown back to him by the HK immigration officer when he visited HK last week.

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquir...0828-289202/Jinggoy-Estrada-suffers-HKs-wrath

The HK immigration dept. has already provided the cctv footage to ensure people that no such thing has happened.

So, someone with hidden agenda is lying.

From your posts in this thread 'Eight Hong Kong tourists killed in Philippine bus hijacking', it seems like you have made up you mind.

To understand the attitude of common Filippino people, lets look at the result of the latest Philippine Presidential. Joseph Estrada, an ex-president who was convicted of plundering (later pardoned by Arroyo for god know what motive) received 26.5% of votes, the second highest among the candidates. This give you a general idea about their attitude toward crime and corruption.

Sad isn't it? But the last time I checked, every Filipino has the right to vote and that's something that's enshrined in the Phil Constitution.

Once the dust clears, all we can do is hope and pray that the leaders that get voted into position actually deliver. That's the gamble with this thing called Democracy.

This give you a general idea about their attitude toward crime and corruption.
Whoa! This is quite a shocker.. it came out of nowhere. :bsmilie:

:Later,

Wow! This thread sure got a life of its own.

Let me sum it up for both sides:
  • Will HK get a straight, clear answer from Phi Gov? Ans: Maybe there's better luck making a chimp sing Pavarotti
  • Will the Phi Gov investigation give closure? Ans: Define "investigation"
  • Why are the people there so insensitive? Ans: Apparently they take things a little lightly over there. Let's just say mediocrity is a way of life.
  • I'm a Hong Konger, I feel so angry at the stupidities and insensitivities! Ans: See above point
  • I'm a Pinoy, I feel so angry at Hong Kongers' attitude towards my country and people! Ans: You must be the minority.
  • How can anyone say "Live and let Live"?!?!?! Ans: Any luck making a chimp sing Pavarotti lately?
  • So what's the best way to move forward? Ans: As impossible as it seems, forgiveness is really the way to move forward.

If 1/4 of the Filippino people can vote for a criminal as a president, then it shouldn't come as a surprise that a lot of them would regard the hostage taking policeman as a hero, no surprise that some of them would pose infront of the bus with smiling faces. Yes, 26.5% isn't the majority, but to have 1/4 of the population to have such low moral expectation is really disconcerting.

Guys, why don't you focus on whats happening in your own country. Your government can't even run a kids olympics. Why don't you comment on that.

This government and her male citizens (who served their NS from Civil Defence , Police and Armed Forces) are able to provide not only its own ppl a secure environment but lots of jobs and opportunities for ppl like you to work and stay here, safely. Yet you chose to insult the very government here who provided you all this. Shame on you!

So they did use butter-knives. Nuff said.

Again you choose to insult the very Armed Forces and security elements that made this country, Singapore, not only safe but also a big deterrence for would be hijackers and perpetrators from even attempting it.

You can defend what your countryman did but do not come into this place to insult our government and ppl who have provided you with a livelihood and safe environment.

I will not hesitate to close this thread and de-register a few ppl if things get out of hand.

It's pretty funny how you can associate the 2. Some twisted mind you've got there.

As I said, that's democracy at work. There are times where we do not like the result but what choice have we got? Majority of the people has spoken, and that's something we must accept.
