Cheapest place to develop film

Actually, doing colour and contrast adjustments well does not make a lab a pro lab. ;) Hey, all labs are supposed to do that well! Anyway, pro labs are usually not part of a film chain (e.g. Fuji Image Plaza, Kodak Express) and they are free to use whatever they find is good. (That's why you see Colour Lab and RGB switching from Kodak/Noritsu to Fuji Frontiers) They also process other formats other than 35mm (e.g. 120, 4x5 etc). Of course, handling of your film is also done professionally - no scratches, fingerprints etc.

I have the chance to look at a guy working on a minilab machine in a Konica lab in Orchard. Boy, looking at the way he works, I will not want to send my film there. Anyhow hold negative, feed into the machine, and when the long strip of film curls around the "workspace", he just pick it up and anyhow flick it away.

How much does Stanley charge anyway? And what machine does he use?

it's a family-run business ie. they are not a part of a chain. think it's a Noritsu machine. will confirm the next time i go. think they charge a wee bit lower than most neighbourhood labs. yes, they develop other formats as well. they dont use gloves BUT i dont see fingerprints on my prints and negatives. seemingly their fingers are that dry :dunno:

Hmm..
What about Standard Photo HQ?
My dad sent my "virgin" roll there to develop as well..
Getting it back soon... Hope everything's ok.

Heard that they use Kodak Professional paper... Is that true?

IMO, RGB's one of the better ones.. Maybe should try other labs.
And not to mention that they give discounts to regular customers / students as well....
Flash your bus pass to get 20% discount! (if I'm not wrong)

haiz ... now that I no longer qualify to have a
bus pass/ student pass seems that it can
be used to get discounts at so many places!

Anyone showed student pass and got discount
from RGB before?

Erm..
I'm not sure whether they still have it now.. But they used to have it..
There was this joke about whether a person can get discount by flashing a school exercise to get a discount... :bsmilie:

some big chain shop namely : photofinish, standard photo, NO 1 colour ctr etc do have some simple promotion going on and off due to the bad market. u will have to scout around first.

most of the machine have to be operate under fan or air con(mostly) in order to cool down the machine, hence naturally their hand will be dry, but some customer look into price more then how they handle the neg :D at least majority of the people do that :D

any good, reasonably-priced place to do b&w prints?

35mm does provide B/W print on machine
but feifei in chinatown does better B/W print ...manual
anyway cost for B/W very X consider 3R for 0.60 each?

hello, thanks for the suggestions. will keep them in mind when i do my prints again.

anyway, i went to colourlab which charged 0.45 per 4R. the cheapest rates i have seen, really. the prints are fine too :)

Am interested to know where I can send a roll of black and white film for processing...did not dare to process my own film after a major disaster in the darkroom. Do you know if there are any places in town which offer processing at reasonable prices? Thanks!

i think most labs will do b&w processing.
i have had friends who went to ruby and came off satisfied, so you can try them :)

i found finger prints on my photos i got from fotohub

Where exactly is RGB along Beach Road? How much do they charge for print and how much for slides?

Dunno about their slide-to-print, but negative-to-print is the most expensive among the pro labs here @ $0.50 per 4R. That's according to their price sheet.

As above....
Most bang for the buck lab is?

KC gives good prints -- I think, I haven't went to any other prob labs before -- but the prints are definately much much better than those express labs out there, very nice and saturated colours except a strange orange tinge for indoor shots (was using fuji superia 400). At 35 cents per print and $3.50 for processing fees, the price of $16.1 is quite ok. And for per roll of film developed, you get a free 6R print and a discount for either a roll Kodak Gold 200 for $2 or a Kodak Max 400 for $2.50. Good bargain

Slide mounting and processing on the other hand is $6.80 per roll. Don't know about the quality coz I don't shoot slides.

Thanks for the tip...
I did a search on printing slides > prints... And I was shocked!
$1 for a 4R @ Colour Lab, and it was the cheapest???

Is this true?
Actually, I was expecting something around the prices for negs > prints.... Didn't expect it to be so expensive!!

Almost wanted to bulk-load Provia 400F, and replace negs with slides totally, and print all of them out...

People who shoot slides usually don't print all, only selected ones. :)

Thanks for the reply though!
I almost used slides for casual shooting.... :)

RGB was having this promotion recently. Buy a Velvia or Provia from them at $12 and $11 respectively and they develop the slides for you free(without mount; with mount add $3.60). Meaning only $2.50 to develop..... Too bad the promotion eneded!!! :(

BTW, I did remember someone in this forum did discuss before which lab provide better quality for converting slide to print.
Anyone care to share information on it, as I'm planning to convert some of slide to print.

Thanks
