Around $1500 incl gst. Probably can get lower if you bargain. MSColor has it as well. Looks like still cheaper to import from US. The big risk for doing that is goods damage during shipment and warranty.

Even the local sony gallerias are selling at about 1400.

I own one as of 2 days ago. Bought it from Amazon. Great lens!!!

I paid USD 699. That's about 1055 SGD.

:cheergal: congratulate!

Yup, will take it on a kit lens vs. CZ comparison shot

Not mine...some sample photos (full size I think) taken with the CZ 16-80 and some comparison shots with the Tamron 17-50 as well . . . http://www.db88.com/KM/CZ16-80/main.php

Interesting to note in the pictures in that thread:

1. The CZ and the Tamron have basically the same sharpness

2. The Tamron handles the strong background light very well, And doesn't "wash out" the railings on the rooftops.

although u lose out on the range though. pros and cons haha.

Depend what you are looking for, the Tamron is a brighter lens at f2.8. The CZ is f4.5 from 30mm onwards which make it 1stop+ slower if you like to use wide aperture alot.

From my own testing, f/5.6 seems to be the real sweet spot for sharpness.

It will probably be faster focussing since the aperture remains wide open at f/2.8 unlike the CZ.

hmmm does this DT lens performance justify the high price?

Just wondering if SONY will provide a bundle of this lens with the to be launched "A-10" DSLR ?

This lens is super sharp. CZ reputation holds well here.

It's still a slow lens, ley. For the price, is the sharpness noticeable in 4R print?

Damage on your lens is a moot point, B&H packages really well! I think it can even survive a bomb blast!:bsmilie:
