Congrats on your purchase. I used the 18-135 quite a fair bit when travelling with my family on holidays.

or rechargable AA batteries??? whr and how much i could get the battery adapter?

what brand of dry cabinet would you guys recommend? looking at 30-40l. what are the cons of analog setup? would i need to keep on setting?

No.. Once you adjust the right level, no need to adjust anymore. Imo not worth paying the extra for the digital one as its only a one-off inconvenience

I got an analog one which is probably over 20 years old, another digital one which I bought 2 years ago. No difference for practical use. I do like the older one better due to better materials used for its trays.
As to which brand to buy, I don't see any difference here either. Just go to a shop and check out its size/price, and hopefully it's not badly made, should be fine.

thanks FW... i sort of decided DIGICAB.... would i need to get a spare hydrometer(is it what they call it?) for safety?
can i put my polaroid and old digicam into the dry cabinet? no sure if fungus will spread. not sure if there is any fungus on my previous equipment.

Yes, you can put whatever you like inside the drycabinet. Actually I put documents (certificates mostly), leather wallets, HDD, earphones, headphones, old mobile phones, batteries, and of course all my cameras and lenses in there. Used to have a lot cameras and lenses, now I only use half of one cabinet for my cameras and lenses. All the rest space has been taken by other stuff
Don't think you need a hydrometer, set the humidity level to anything between 30 to 50% should be fine (I set my digital cabi to 40%), don't need to be very precise. I'm guessing it'd be okay to just set the dehumidify dial at the middle of MIN to MAX level.

No need to get a spare hydrometer but if you want to, no harm also..
No problem if there's just mild fungus since there are spores in the air anyway, most important thing is to maintain the low humidity and use the gear often, that way fungus won't happen. The fungus will also not grow on the infected equipment. But if you kiasu then I guess you can buy two dry cabi one for the new stuff and one for the quarantined stuff lol.
You want to put anything just put lor.. I even toss my golf glove in there to dry it out after use!

I did the same, I have a 5 dollar hydrometer in the dry cabinet,
the reading is slightly different,
like digital say 35, while hydrometer says 40; but both safe i guess.

what good portrait lenses? 50mm F1.8(new de) or 50mm F1.4(older) or 35mm F2.4
i believe 50mm F1.8/1.4 beats the 35mm F2.4
but please share share and advise.
SLR selling 50mm F1.8 @ $320 if i remember correctly...
I use 18-135wr capture my JRT stationary position quite clear and beautiful...

IMHO, all the lenses you have mentioned are great optically. I think better to have the FL sorted. Look at your portrait shots so far and see if what kind of range of FL those pictures were, then it might narrow your choices down better.
..................Or you could just buy the whole lot; 31, 35, 40, 43, 50, 55, 70, 77, 85 :bsmilie:
