haha considering my age, thats expected. my family is not rich...i saved for 1.5 years to get my camera. i started with a 2nd hand film SLR (EOS300) for $250 5 years ago but the developing costs drowned my interest.
Being rich is not a issue. I'm not rich too.

In some conditions, it maybe essential.. like to much flare from surrounding.. i.e. a low lit hall with lotsa spotlightes all over.

some1 correct me if im wrong.. ;)

Not so sure about pricing but bcos I need it this week, I got the Canon one for my 18-55 at $30 at CP just now when I bought my 450D kit. =)

im not saying you are bro. being NOT rich is an issue for me. my parents dont have extra money to spend on me. they are barely surviving on the low pay they are getting, so the last thing they'd need is to sponsor my camera. just to get my stand right, im not envious of u guys nor am i dismissive of ppl who have sponsored cameras. just sharing my situation since everyone is sharing. i have no intention of flaming anyone or implying anyone is rich.

this thread is again approaching 1000 posts. it is too fast for me to catch up actually. considering permanently retiring from this thread liao.

hmmm.. but then again for the kit lens , the hood is quite useless as its so darn shallow, so i think the preventing flare part, it cant be of much use.. I am presuming the third party is of similar shape with the original :D

Hey guys.

Although I had yet to fire off my 450D alas a test shot at the shop, I'm into landscape and nature photography and sometimes do shooting for events. Wat are the recommended lenses for such shoots?

Cheap and yet good.

haha.. pardon me, from the request you are asking for .. You seems to want a all purpose lens. So actually there is no solution to your request, unless you really specify what you really want or need.

Anyway.. stick to the kit lens first... no rush into buying so many when you are not even well verse with the kit lens :thumbsup:

I have a lens hood for my 50 f1.8. It's easier to hold it.

Yeap, the kit lens is sufficient to let you learn more about photography, its IQ is not ass horrendous as some may think.. because its a KIT lens :thumbsup:

Hi RyanG,

I'm not sure what is your budget. IMHO, you may want to consider getting Canon 10-20MM for landscape, having wider angle is definitely better. For shooting events you may want to consider how close you will be with your subjects. If you are the person who likes to take candid pictures of people during events. You will need a fast lens. If it is outdoor, you can consider 70-200MM F4L. It is much more worth it then having 55-250MM. A second hand cost $800 average. If you are taking indoors, get a faster prime like Sigma 30mm F/1.4 or Canon 28mm f/1.8.

Hey there, I would too think that the recommendations you gave will suite his request. But i think thats everyother range of lens ! :bsmilie: And thats doesnt equiv to his definition of cheap and good. At least not the cheap part.
10-22 is = around 900++

70-200 I would recommend F4 Is version = 1500 ++

Sigma 30 F1.4 Altho the 1.4 seems attracting, maybe talk about its softness wide open.. so you may want to take note = 500++

28 F 1.8 Same with the sigma brother , It is said to be soft wide open , so it may not be that good. = around 750++

So i would recommend him to really try his style of photography first :D

Hi all! I've just got my EOS 450D 4 days ago! It'll be great to learn tips and obtain guidance from you guys!
