ya using the raynox with a crappy 28 - 105 f3.5 - 4.5, your 100 f2.8 should do much better with the raynox. Im sick of the thin DOF the raynox has, the insect has to be really small like the beetle to get the whole body in focus, if it's too big like the mantis at the most u can get 1/3 of the body. Maybe i no skill with it, lol.
How much did you get your raynox for? From which shop? haha
And whats its magnification?

got it from mass sales @ $115, there's only one thread selling the raynox there, not sure what it is already, probably can head to the thread and check it out.

sugoi! :thumbsup: however if i were to nit pick, i'd say that if u didnt put in those wordings, the 2nd n 3rd pics would be a bit too plain coz the background takes up a large majority of the pic. i think the 100mm 2.8 can also take these...but to be uncropped maybe will need the ext tubes ba.
one of these days really must go out with u to shoot macro! i think we can learn a lot from each other (or rather i can learn a lot from you!) :embrass:

Really?? I thought the 100 was a dedicated macro, should be able to take these without the help from tubes. Btw really nothing to learn from me, you can ask the people who've seen me shoot, lol it's the same just point and shoot :sweat:.

i not really free tmr leh. 100 is a dedicated macro...but to fill the entire frame must go the subject there...30cm or thereabouts. and at most only magnify 1:1. ext tubes give more mag lor. but the thing is go so near, the DOF becomes wafer thin...becomes almost impossible to shoot hand held AND stop down for more DOF. so i always very amaze how u can hand held n shoot yet still can kena sweet spot...
thats y wanna see how u do it ma. or at least maybe try the raynox? :bsmilie:

lol, 30 cm is far man! i would like to give the 100 a go also. But im slowly loosing intrest in macro, particularly because i dont have a dedicated macro, tiring with the raynox. lol

really? im losing interest in other forms of photography...shooting exclusively macro now. the 100mm gives crazy resolution...can zoom n crop also wun lose details. but yah, very tiring, so i always bring a light tripod along to get those 3 or 4 f stops. we should exchange our shooting methodology n gear sometime in future!
on the other hand, im not exposed at all to flash photography...i think ur pics actually made me interested enough to read more and be tempted to get a strobe! BBB again... sian...
