But by using diffusers and cards, can we make the picture more natural? As in not like the "flashed" picture? With one portion being so bright and the other so dark? How about showing me some pictures? If you don't mind...thanks alot!

it depend on the style ur flash pattern and the location....
Like this one.... dunno how it look like to you. To me it look ok http://www.flickr.com/photos/kippei/2663697859/in/set-72157606144013471/

Firstly, u need to understand how the flash system works and exposure combination. It took me like 1 month to grip the concept.

Thanks for sharing the photo.
I am now also considering the flash also.
No money to get the 580EXII so most likely will get the 430EXII.
I have asked the price at AMK Hub MS Colour just now.
It costs about S425 including gst.
Am wondering whether it will be enough for a middle size ball room usage or not

Actually its quite powerful. I don't think there is a flash powerful enough to power from one end to another end of the ballroom? Might get it cheaper at John 3:16 if bought in bulk?

Would you mind to check up for me?
If we buy in bulk, for example 2 or 3 pcs, how much will it cost?
For MS colour, there is no special discount for that buy in bulk.
I probably need this flash by this weekend.:)

Do you always the bounce from ceiling or diffuser for your flash shoot?
I observed that you used ISO1600 for your flash photo sample.
Is it direct flash with diffuser used or you used your flash at certain degree shoot?
I might need to use the flash at the coming weekend for my cousin wedding shoot.
So I wish to find out more from you guys.

That event I used stofen... but recent event I used my modified ABBC. Den big hall nuthing to bounce, i had to rely on the 580 power to bounce my ABBC and ISO1600 to lessen the flash load. Depend on situation, I flip my ABBC into mode 1 or mode 2. Dun be afraid to lose efficiency, if ya want good quality flash.

Hey guyssssssssssss

Man, I am so impressed by the 450D club. Like many others, I have just been bitten by the DSLR photography bug, and again, like many others I'm at the crossroad junction of choosing a DSLR to start. I have read through the past 28 pages of this thread this morning (to make sure I understand the rules of this thread =)) and I have some questions which a noob like me needs help with. The classic 450D vs 1000D threads are all over the forum, and after reading all of them, on paper 450D seems to be my choice. Then again, one would say "you have to feel it yourself to know".

However I spoke to my friend who has been into photography for sometime, and he told me to spend more for a "good body", because in future I will find that the higher end lenses cannot "fit" the entry-level DSLRs that I am planning to buy. I went to research and found out that the lens aperture of the 450D is F/3.5-5.6. My friend told me that if I get a good lens with has F/2.8 or lower F-number, "the body wont be able to take it", as in fully utilize the "power" of the lenses.

Disclaimer! I believe there are certain things/concepts/terms that I might have used wrongly in the above 2 paragraphs which might "agitate" some seniors here, I just want to apologise if I did, and would gladly appreciate any tips/help/pointers I can get here. That said, my friend also disclaimer that he is only into photography for 2yrs and he is just giving me his 2cents worth, so pls dont shoot him.

THANKSSSSS AGAIN for starting such a wonderful "home" thread for the 450D users, it makes me feel like its a family in here.

Err...lol....there's no such thing as a xxxD format camera cannot take better lenses. The 450D can take both EF lenses and EF-S lenses. The 450D can fit these 2 category lenses. Your friend is kinda wrong actually. I think what he's trying to say that, different series of camera has better performance. Like if you compare a 50D to a 450D, the 50D has better noise control. Since you are starting out, i don't really think it's worth it to start of with a higher series camera. The 450D is an above entry level camera. It's really good. Do remember one thing, the camera body can be of a decent range, but it's the lenses that always do the trick.

Invest in a body that you feel is comfortable, then invest on better lenses. Rather then to buy a expensive body, with sub-par lenses, is pretty useless. Unless you really want good noise control, high capture rate and other performance, then you have to get the more expensive body.

With the recent economy, i advise, buy a camera that is useful. Doesn't need to be the expensive ones. A 450D is just nice for starters. Infact it is a little hard to use for totally new people. But if you practice and learn hard, the camera will be very easy to use.

Investment on the lens is most important. Some point in life you would out grow the 1st camera you bought and most likely buy a higher end series, so no point getting the high end series now and struggle with it. The lens will remain with you for life, provided that you maintain it.

And the lens aperture that you stated above is from the kit lens. The kit lens is just for you to start out. You will need to invest on lenses. If you want, you can get the body alone and purchase your own preferred lens separately.

Take care. And not to worry...most people at this club are very friendly.
