It was exciting to watch the cars come out from the pit lane...

For all the shots, I used the EF-S55-250mm lens. For the night shots of the F1 cars, I had to use ISO 1600, +2 Exp, WB to Fluorescent setting and set the shutter speed to 1/200 to catch the cars. I really had to max out just about every setting on the camera.

The F1 cars were very fast round the circuit and you really have to watch their line so that you can pre-empt them and get ready to shoot when you hear them coming. :D

 you are cool

Thanks for letting us know your camera settings. Your pictures looks great. i thought 55-250MM wouldn't be fast enough to capture the cars.

Now we know what the EF-S 55-250mm lens can do. It really is a value for money lens. Highly recommended.

Thank you all for the compliments :embrass: it was really fun shooting with the 450D and the 55-250 lens. Really, for that price, this lens was great to use and all my shots were handheld so the IS does work well (I brought a monopod but didn't use it cuz of the changing positions). Also, even though the cars were fast, the auto focusing still managed to keep up (up, I used auto focusing for most shots). Just set it to AI servo focusing. continously track the car and fire off the continous shots.

Ok..I dont' really want to post a full size photo cuz its really big so follow the link to see the full size pics to see how clear the photos can be (don't forget they are travelling over 200km/h and in the night):-

Here you can see the Red Bull driver wearing yellow tint visor to help cut glare and improve contrast for night driving:-

hey guys. jus wondering.. any of u using 430EX or 430EXII.??
where and how much u got it.??
i got a friend selling the 430EX @ $300 dunno shud get or jus get the new EXII..

Hi guys,
Need some opinions here, I planning to buy a DSLR & looks like EOS 450D is the choice. I prefer a fast lens but find that the original Canon lens is too expensive. So I’m thinking of getting the body & a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di II. I heard this lens is about ½ the price of the original Canon lens.
I also read somewhere that using 3rd party lens might have some issues, like back focusing & image too sharp. Is it true?
BTW what is back focusing & how much is the Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di II lens?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I got the 430 EXII from Alan Photo at Sim Lim for $400 cash 2 weeks back. Really worth the upgrade from the 430 EX with an improved & more durable hotshoe mount made of metal instead of plastic and a quick and convenient locking mechanism as well as the faster flash recycling time just to name a few.

I have taken some shots in F1 yesterday .... Think quite bad because the fence and the light condition. Anyway just want to share my pics. :)
