Canon Powershot S95

Most of the sample photo taken is close up shoot. Anyone check on the IQ in maximum zoom length?:dunno:

Ya can someone confirm this? Coz I think I will be shooting alot of videos using the S95 too. Will the lens default to its widest 28mm setting when shooting videos?

I think it will stick at the initial 'focal length' when you shoot video.
Other user please confirm this.

In video mode, you can adjust the zoom. But once you start recording the optical zoom will stay lock until you complete your recording. In short, you will only able to play around with your digital zone during recording.

Is this a flaw or normal?

I think it is normal, cos i think canon doesnt want zoom noise to be recorded, unlike on dslr where there is no zoom motor to zoom the lens..

Ok thanks bro!:) can zoom to the range you want first before starting the video recording is good enough for me!

Is there any warranty issue buying the Canon camera over ebay SG?
Need to check for export set etc?

or better buy from Funan shops?

don't scrimp and save this kinda money la..

best to get locally from trusted shops~!!! not Sim LIM please..

looks like i will get the S95.. is it slim as the IXUS 130?

anywhere but sim lim square...esp song brothers....shd change the name to Somalia Pirates

Last week i went to ask the price of a canon case for IXUS....they quoted a price of 50 bucks!!

They quoted you $50 bucks! hahaha.. whats wrong with them.

Btw the s95 is not as slim as the ixus130 but its still considered to be decent in size.

I can recommed you my regular dealer that i always go to for my camera supplies. Lucky Store at Holland Village. Its opposite subway and i feel that they have good prices and good service. Recommended a friend of mine to get the s95 and she was very satisfied. PM me if you want their number.

The HD video is decent, but it has limitations. Besides the fact that optical focal length is fixed once recoding has started (i.e. only digital zoom is available), the focus is also fixed (i.e. the camera will not autofocus once recording has started).

Someone asked about whether you can buy off eBay. The key issue is whether the seller on eBay is a dealer (giving you Canon Singapore's manufacturer warranty of 12mths + 3mths if you register online), or is selling a grey-market set.

Latest price update: $594 (SLR Revolution, Funan), w/8GB (Kingston Class 4) and case. Extra battery $6 (China-type) or $51 (Canon; I forget the exact price). Wherever you decide to buy, phone ahead to make sure they have stock. This camera is flying off the shelves.

Anyone has feedback on the $6 battery which SLR Revolution is selling? Will explode or not? :bsmilie:

Thinking of getting a 2nd battery for my S95

My Canon Ixus iZoom's original battery is 760mAh. I bought an extra battery (3rd party) which stated 1500mAh but many times cheaper than Canon. However the Canon original battery last at least 2 times longer than the 3rd party one. :bsmilie:

Had brunch at Crystal Jade Palace at Ngee Ann City. The lighting was pretty dim and a good test for the S95.

Haha, thanks. I enjoy taking food pics. The venue was Crystal Jade Palace at Ngee Ann City. The pics were taken straight out of camera. No PP but have increased the saturation and sharpness of the S95 by one notch (under Custom Color). Have also used Custom White Balance.
