Lol I think S'pore shots have the best standards in Asia after seeing the winner's gallery of other asian countries. Grats to our winner btw :D Very inspiring and creative shots.

Argh O levels I hate you. Making me miss the event for the 2nd time. haha

Oh Yeah.. I have to agreed this with you.
Think Spore shooter has lots of creative idea and those Fancy shot from Passion - playtime.
:bsmilie: From chicken backside to... bedroom playtime.. what you boys thinking man,.....

I was impressive to see soem of the shot was really humour and we have gd laugh about it.
Even its not Winning shot, but it make us laugh and we will remember your shot. Great job guys!

Hey guys.. I would like to bring this up to share with you.
During the first Theme- Passion. most of us was head straight to the People emotional shot.
lots of ppl was gater around Orchard street, hoping to capture some nice Passion shots from the street.. I was just reached at Paragon & wanted to try the Kid playgroud area at Paragon, Just right before I walk in to paragon, I saw couples of us was from wisma to HMV both street..
while I was waiting for my frens to throw his trash at the dusbin, This caucasian lady approached me and tell that It's very Rude to shooting people without permission & she wanted to SUE canon for such events. and she event told me that if anyt one of us has event take photo of her kids, she will file a complain and sue canon. well.. i was not the one shooting at the street and I was been approach for such lousy feedback.

What you guys think?

I hope next year CANON can consider to allow more Entry for the Open category. 20 shots out of the 1086 open & youth is really tough chance. understand some fellow friends just attend the fun and crowd but didnt shoot and submit.

Yup. Canon team is very friendly and discipline. Treat us nice and friendly.

guess the main thing is to stand out and be creative. too some inspiration from this years slide show.

Tell her sorry, Street shoot is legal in Sg.

But, I do agree that street shooting dosen't mean can just shoot like that. That's where a lot of photographers still miss the point that not everyone likes being shot at. Just shoot sensibly and if the subject or guardian is not happy, don't shoot loh.

Have you tried to enter for international competitions. it'll be 3 against tens of thousands of submission.

The idea is to really stand out from the crowds and make your photos turn heads.

Hmm, you based your judgement on the gallery at Canon? Actually, there seemed to be some discontentment with the participants on the selection of the M'sia winners, so we might not be seeing the whole picture (pardon the pun).

To be fair to contestants in the other countries, such competition depends on the judges' taste, what they select in the end is what will be put up online, they might not be reflective of the competition's standard.

Hi, guys

hav you contacted the organiser? There was announcement that they found a very important accessory of a "competeting" brand camera :bsmilie:, announced a couple of times but it seems that no owners showed up to reclaim their lost items.

Hi all

Yesterday was my first Canon Photo Marathon, and I really enjoyed myself. I went with a fellow photographer friend who is also a fellow marathon "virgin", and we survived the event. The challenge of thinking and looking for shots that fit the 3 themes was challenging, but most important of all we had fun.

Looking at the slideshows of the works of the other 1085 photogs was inspirational and eye-opening. I certainly could see most photogs didn't really bother too much about the competition, but just had fun, which I think is the most important aspect.

So I think it's appropriate to share my 3 submissions with everybody and I hope the others will do so in this thread too! All my 3 pictures here are untouched (no colour, grain or effect adjustments). They just got resized to fit into the thread.

Assignment 1: PASSION

Assignment 2: CHALLENGE

Assignment 3: PLAYTIME

hey guys!Congrats to all the winners..had a wonderful time with my friend and Gf..haha.we really didn't took this competition seriously so it was just an experience for us.The organisers were so organised..the only thing is that, while the prize presentation, they didn't show the winners picture...it would be good to showcase them..and also, once the Emcee announced the last winner, everyone was like leaving the room.haha.

But I'm really proud to be in the Singapore book of records for the most number of photographers in a picture.haha..

oh hahaha u are the one who submitted that photo for "challenge"...was watching the slideshow, then this shot came up, it definitely caught my attention....hahaha
then the others which caught my attention was ....chicken ends, naked baby playing at vivo(?), those insect shots, and erm....what else...i forgotten liao.

Among all the jumping ppl shots...only liked one, 3 guys with the red wall background, that was tastefully composed and shot.

most of the caucasions dun like their kids to be photographed, i think got to do with paedophilism or something. They are just cautious. I warned my friends about taking photos of some angmoh kids without permission, luckily he didnt get any scolding, still its safer to ask for permission, some of them are pretty touchy bout it.

he regularly gives seminars thou. =)

ah i got to go find out bout this. hehe thanks for the info!

p.s
If anyone has posted photos taken at CPM, and hosted in Flickr, can tag it with "canonphotomarathon" ? Makes searching/viewing easier for everybody. Thanks! :)

If any1 has the group photo, please upload it here . THanks!
