Haha.. it's the little thoughts that count... :bsmilie:

actually ppls who buy lenses oversea are just a hand full, no many ppls have the chances to travel so often. Unless you happened to be there.

out of all the lenses that I haven only 2 are bought locally.

this is one way to make users buy only from their local registered dealers :sweatsm:

at times u can leverage on pple heading there for trips n etc~

As the international warranty is dropped, can we expect their lens prices to drop a little bit also ? lol

It is a bad move which I hope other lens manufacturer will not follow.

:confused: :thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

waow....

Thanks for the info CS TAN

so now I have 2 option if want to buy lens, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
HKG : a bit cheaper and I can get int'l warranty
JKT/Indonesia : although its local Indonesia warranty (based on a friend who just got back from there bought EF 70-200 f2.8 from authorized dealer) and I found it cheaper compared to here.

Both Indonesia and HK are good places ! ! Why? Cause the cost of travelling is cheap there. I've booked mine to Macau, via Tiger budget airway, total to and fro $80. Then from Macau play abit of the casino, take a ferry called turbo jet express over to HK.

Indonesia is also cheap tho.

Just that at HK, I get to buy more clothes..

Warranty wise, hmmm, I will try to look for a set with the green paper, which I guess is InT warranty ?

Otherwise I only buy if the price is 20-30% off from SG price

this is so disappointing.

yup, i guess gotta look for the 'green paper' if it's orange, might as well get the grey set if price difference is significant.

Disappointing as i've planned a trip to HK in Oct planning to get stg, apart from some sightseeing and shopping with the missus.

I was told that the reason why Canon has stopped international warranty is because Canon worldwide will charge the originating country where the warranty was issued (i.e. where the product was purchase) when they are asked to service a lens within warranty period. It gets complicated when certain Canon office in those country do not want to invest in certain technology to service certain lens and accessories. Hence they decided to stop international warranty.

What a waste of time. Left hand pass money to right hand. I have seen all the internal charge backs with MNCs but if people just sit down and think, after they completed all their financial consolidations, at the end of the day, the P&L rest with just one company call CANON. So why bother to antagonize their customers with such inconvenient?

I guess Canon Singapore has been providing high percentage of warranty service on items that was bought outside of Singapore. But if they really want to change this situation, all they need to do is lower their price to the level below Canon USA or Canon Hong Kong, then their problem will go away.

Wah basket, nikon got international warranty?

Exactly....their sales will even go up!

Well, every business centre has to generate income for themselves to survive and proof to be viable and profitable. Even the operational or backroom has to somewhat be a profit centre in this new era. It's a competitive environment now even within the same organization ... :)

not that i liked what Canon is doing.

But sales and revenue do not rise hand in hand. sales up could mean revenue generated is lower too

True, every profit centre needs to justify their existence but my point is that the current unbalanced warranty maintenance situation is created by the unbalanced pricing scheme among their different country units.

If Canon Singapore's pricing scheme is similar to Canon USA or Hong Kong, after one year, the only people who will be bringing the non-Singapore purchased lenses to Canon Singapore for warranty service will be only the tourists and people who relocated to Singapore. That is what this International warranty was intended.
