AFAIK (correct me if I'm wrong) they use the same sensor but they're using different lenses so I assume there'll a slight difference in PQ?
Sorry to hear that ... guess I must be really lucky. Was told that I had to wait for 1 to 2 weeks but in the end, got the good news after 3 days ... who knows the stock may arrive sooner than expected?

The Canon G12 and S95 do very well against the Panasonic LX5 and Nikon P7000 using the DPReview comparometer especially at high ISO's. Take a look:

I bought my G12 today @ S$740. I hope I got a good deal. Come with a 8g card and a ugly camara bag. I find the bag not really that useful. It did not really cover the camara well. Really feel very unsafe using it. Anyone want to share with me where can I buy a nice and good bag for my camara??
As for the camara, I really like the feel of this cam. It really make me feel like a compact slr I had bought. Of course I know slr is better, but I dont think slr user can bring their cam out, without feeling the load that they carry.
I had try using it for the whole afternoon. Fun to use, user friendly and easy to understand even without the help of anything. I have never find myself taking nice photos then. But this cam make me feel confident that I can take better pictures from now on. :bigeyes:
I guess I really bought a good camara. :thumbsup:

The street price of the G12 is around $740-750. I got mine $674 at CSC, thanks to the tips I got from CS
Basically most camera are capable of taking "good" picture. The reason I choose the G12 is because of the manual control. you may not be able to take high or low key picture if you do not have control of the +-EV or it is too troublesome to dig deep into those digital manual. By the time you finishing setting, the monkeys have already gone home.:bsmilie:
I find myself having problem controlling the exposure with my Fujifilm F100, while trying to take pic of the beautiful uluwatu temple 2 months back. The Fujifilm F100 are capable of taking good picture most of time under " normal " lighting. That make me start looking for a camera that I can have full control without digging deep Ito the digital manual and the bulk of a DSLR. I may be shooting more raw from now on.:think:
Expro, u really have a super good deal. Where is CSC?? By the way, do u know where I can buy wide angle len for my G12? Is it expensive? Any good place to intro to me? This camara is really a good buy even I bought it more expensive then u do. Real give shape and nice image.
I will like to print it out and see the finishing. Cause image from the screen and actual print out, can sometime look different.

Find any Canon P&S you have in your storeroom, Sungei Rd or in the B&S (any condition). Bring it to Canon service centre to buy the G12 at a "privilege purchase" price of $674.

I have no problem buying from them. I have bought some iphone acc and mini tripod from them. Usually I only buy those item that have been review by other buyer. You need to do your home work, ask if you are not sure. However, China product, you know lah! But at such price, I have no complain.
As for local shop, there are some recommended shops in CS. I don't ready spend much money on photo equipment nowadays. Basically I only use compact digicam for hobby photography, The G12 been my latest toy. G12 will be good enough for me and I think it will last me for another at least 3-5years.

Am not sure whether to get a Canon G12, LX5 or Samsung NX100 @_@ ..
Went to two different camera shop to ask about G12. End up .. one shop intro LX5 to me, the other intro NX100 ..
Im super lost now..

LX5 seems to have more pros compare to G12 .. Aperture, wide angle, battery life, color, Leica lens, larger sensor, shoot faster
NX100 .. intro by the shop, saying its worth the money..coz its a semi SLR ..
Read the forum, seems like G12 is preferred over LX5 .. but it seems that, LX5s function is better..
So far, price quoted from Parasilk - $747 , MS Color - $760 = both provide 8GB & cover ..
