Hi, I am new to this forum.
I am considering to buy between G10 and LX3. Don't know which one to buy as reviews for both are good. Currently using an IXUS. Wanna upgrade to a semi-pro camera.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks in advance!
cool! But to capture expressions of a baby, which is better? G10 or LX3? Personally i prefer G10, but one of my friend recommends LX3 strongly.
Another setback about LX3 is that it has only 2.5x Optical Zoom.
LX3 definitely has a faster lens and its a good camera. The pics are also very sharp. I have not played with the LX3 long enough but the LX2 which I had previously doesn't perform well in its AUTO mode. My wifey gave up using the auto function and went back to the fuji which was easier to use. The LX series seems to be more a photographers' camera and with the correct settings such as WB (LX2 auto has terrible WB) the LX series can produce very very good pics. However, when it came to upgrading to the LX3 or the G10, I chose the G10 for the above mentioned reasons.
But seriously, I think you maybe pleasantly surprised how an entry level dslr may suit your needs better.
Just (today) bought a G10 from MS Color at $770. Comes with 8GB SD and kit (yet to be collected from Harbour Front). Added in a screen protector at $8, borrowed a temporary 2GB SD card and the camera is ready to go into action. Took a few shots and pictures look quite impressive. The camera has all the essential buttons and knobs conveniently located at the right places. Big screen too.
The offer price of $770 is almost the same at few shops. I was told the kit contains a bag, cleaning cloth, tripod or something like that. Haven't collected it from Harbour Front yet.
There is a new shop called Oriental at Sim Lim Square 5th storey selling the G10 for $760 when I walked in 2 days ago but they had only one set. The serial number of that set was too close to the ones mentioned at Canon's website, so I decided to wait.
