... touch the D80 and you'll regret touching it!!! cos its soooo nice to hold and look through the viewfinder ;(

ah so powerful ah
dun tempt me leh...

yes. D80's feel beats the 400D hands down.

noise handling issue wise... :D i say both are getting on par le.

Yes. I must admit D80's grip was better than 400D but in the end settled for 400D becos of its self cleansing system and the Mac software.

I have finally come to a decision and thank you everyone for their kind and useful advice. Been talking to people and looking around, I have decided to get the 400D. Even though both cameras take good pictures, and the price of 350D is tempting, I have a feeling that I will regret if I get the 350D and I believe it has a longer shelf life as compared to 350D which will be replaced by 400D eventually.

Next step, to get the best price for the camera!! Any essential accessories to get? Do you think it's advisable to get a spare battery? :D

well i can see why i will decide 400D over 350D even it is much more expensive... cuz

when i touch the 350D.. it feels very cheap and like badly made plastic....
when i touch the 400D.. it feels better and have a better solid built than 350D...

need to touch the nikon D80 b4 i can make decision :D
U want solid? 1DsMkII. The most solid of 'em all.

400D - $1480 MS COLOR, $1500 Southasia (with screen protector)

Sold my 350D to get this one. The dust cleaner and faster shooting capability enuff to buy me over.

I always have a lot of dust problems (esp when I'm on holidays) and its really a chore. Sometimes the dust doesn't dislodge with a blower.............DUH!

Get a battery grip(very useful ), an additional batt (if u like), additional CF card (1Gb can only shoot 200 pics on L setting), flash and voila! You are good to go.

Have fun

1480 dollars for 400D at MS colour, any idea what are the bundled items?

oh dun have the extra CF and the bag?

hmm sounds good..

cuz with 2X 1GB CF, you end up swapping the CF Cards..
unless there's some disadvantages of having the 2GB CF card.. :D

are those nett prices? or before GST? tks

$1480 @ MS color is certainly a very good price! (Cash price or credit?) but it doesn't come with any bundle eh. hmm...

I just checked over the weekend, they were quoting me $1580 with 1GF and a Canon bag.

Has anyone used TWINMOS CF Card? reliable? coz I saw a 2GB CF card which is 140X going at $78 in SIm Lim.

An advice - "Don't put all ur eggs in 1 basket"

extra CF and canon bag comes with every package but u hv to claim it at harbourfront.

all net prices but the shops only accept cash, no credit cards.

totally agree. the first batch of 1gb lexar cards which came with the 350D had lots of problems-images were LOST or corrupted. so get 2X 1gb CF is probably a better idea

Hi guys. This is my first post and I too am trying to decide between the 350D and 400D. I'm leaning towards saving the money and getting the 350D since I'm quite a newbie as far as dSLRs are concerned. Your feedback to this thread is great.

PS. Kruder - I'm not hijacking this thread. Just saying thanks for the points shared. I'm now looking around for a shop which has good offers :)

$300 diff not worth it for large LCD and anti-dust... are u guys kidding me? i would definitely pay the extra measly $300 for the big LCD and anti-dust. i think a lot of folks would too. In the photography world (and i mean this quite seriously), $300 is almost loose change.

Heck, Canon came up with 1DmkIIN just to throw in a bigger LCD. Anyway, to each his own.

Getting a new 350D makes no sense at this point in time. Either spring for a new 400D, or go for a sub-$1k 350D in the buy-sell forum. Plenty of them around.

MS Color also provides installment payment for 400D, below is the details i got:

Price: $1669(inc.gst) free 1 G cF card, bag, filter
OCBC, DBS. POSB,Diner club--24 months
UOB --12 months

That's good and sound advice, ST100. Thanks. I'll consider the 400D but prices are still steep.
