Canon EOS Vs Nikon D

women are going to start flocking to Canon if they read this........

I know at least one shop that's propagating such notions... Canon is only good for blah blah blah... Nikon is good for blah blah AND blah... :bsmilie:

pics from PnS cams are like cooked food..... just buy and eat

RAW output images are like raw meat and vegetables ..... u need to cook it to your style and satisfaction

:bsmilie: This explanation is really good

And from their shop name, they seem very religious. :bsmilie:

Bro... one day you need to bite the bullet and walk into that store with this

Then ask them if Canon is good. :D

@Baracus thanks for the confirmation bro, I will ask around and get some quotations from them.

@limwhow, thanks bro for your advice. I have asked one of my friends regarding the camera. Apparently he is into Nikon as he is used to Nikon's setting. However, I am used to canon pocket cam, so I prefer canon.

@ed9119 thanks for explaining the different between raw and jpeg. It is really informative.

@bro daredevil123 you got the point bro. I guess I will monitor the price. I will do an in depth comparison between the newly launched and the previous model before I make any decision.

@bros and sis thank you for your advice, glad that you are passionate enuf with newbies =]

I can tell you from experience that from a canon pns to a nikon dslr. Zero issue in getting used to it. You just need to spend a bit of time to read the manual as the dslr will have a lot more useful functions.
And I think it will be vice versa with a nikon pns to canon dslr. No issues.

they will just go straight to bringing out the abalone menu for you to choose.

just remember that cameras are just electronic appliances with uploaded software and programs

photos coming directly out of Pns camreas are already 'cooked' by the in-camera programs and settings.... so they're ready to go straight out of camera

those who value their creative freedom and want to DO IT THEIR WAY, will get a camera that shoots in RAW........ and want the camera to Kaypoh AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE ...... the 'cook' then uses an image editing software and adjusts the image to his satisfaction

if u still want to get DSLR and let the camera's software handle everything.... still can.... go P mode or Scene mode where it is auto everything and do a one-time adjustment of contrast, saturation and sharpness levels

Any recommendation and reason for me? I have used my company's Canon EOS 500D wide lens camera, but I could not find any feature to add effect to the photo.

Both Canon and Nikon DSLR series do not provided such feature. I believe Pentax K-x series have this.
What i want to hightlight to you is.. If you would like to create so many effect on the photo.. you should not get DSLR.. P&S should be sufficient enough. Just my though. No offense.:)

You sure about this??
And what nice features does the K-x has?

i'm not sure about the canon/nikon part, but i know the K-x does offer in camera processing from the review at dpreview.

Not a pentax user, so can't comment how the effects will turn out. but i think pentax's entry level offerings (K-x & K-r) are very good value for the buck.

When you made such a statement, you better get your facts right. After reading the first line, anything else you said doesn't seems to be credible anymore.

most of these camera processing effects to me is gimmicky. If I ever get such camera, probably I will just use one of 2 of these to enhance the photo and not make it look "weird".
