want to go travel soon, where to get 400D Kit II with 17-85mm IS USM in good price?
hi guys
i am a noob and i have a 3k budget.. i'm eyeing the 40D which will leave me about 1.2k to spend on lenses and planning to get a wide angle and a general purpose lens like for wedding events and such..
i have found these 2 lenses on the very first page of this thread and the prices seems comfortable and fits my budget. are these lenses suitable for weddings/indoors?
- Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 ($300-$600) - wide
- Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM ($600-$850) - general purpose
and how much are these lenses roughly?
- Tamron AF19-35MM F/3.5-4.5
- Tokina AF19-35MM F/3.5-4.5
thanks for your help!![]()
Hi Just bought a 40D just now with the 17-55mm f2.8 EF IS USM. Still getting use to it. This is My first Canon DSLR after my Olympus.
Many Canon wide lens are very expensive unlike the Olympus where they have 11-22mm f2.8 ..
Anyway, Im looking for a wide angle lens for canon mount. Any recomendaions?
Hi all, just brought 40D kit with 17 -85 lens. Not sure abt f4 - 5.6, is it f4 is the biggest aperture it can go, f 5.6 is the smallest? But i think i can set f to 11. That's y i dun understand 1: f 4 - 5.6 printed on the lens means.
:sweatsm:
i means when you zoom to 85mm, the biggest aperture you can get is 5.6.
The aperture number on the lens refers to the largest aperture possible. In your case it is F/4 at 17mm and F/5.6 at 85 mm. F/11 is a smaller aperture (I know, the numbers are misleading when talking about large and small - you'll get used to it )but when i put to Av mode, i can set my aperture to f11 and still can take picture. how come ah?

You will be able to set apertures smaller than the F/4 (at 17 mm) and F/5.6 (at 85 mm).
correct. the smallest aperture @ 17mm or 85mm can go beyond f/11, but there is a limit to the minimum aperture. You can try it out yourself by turning the dial. =)
