Canon EOS 5DS and 5DSR

Just done a 60" (1.5m) x 40" (1m) canvas print from a landscape photo with 18mp 600D. A bit stress on the detail with such enlargement but generally still be fine.
50MPixels is awesome as I can print almost 30"x20" with no enlargement at all and it should go superb well with 2x enlargement for 60" x 40".

However, the cameara may need to pair with the mark ii zoom or prime for such resolution. Another money expenditure trap :(
So question, Why would you pick the 5Ds over the 5D Mark III if you don't print anything larger than A2 size?

If I have to choose between 5D3 and 5Ds, I will no doubt pick the latter. This is like having 2 cameras, one crop and one FF, in a single package. Sweet.

The icing on the cake is the Sony sensor. Most probably. We'll see.

hope crop mode can get at least 8fps.

Really? I'm confused... would crop mode allow us to use EF-S lenses?

It may not have to do with megapixels to get the newer one, if the sensor shadow recovery performance is like of those of Sony's. But no news on many things to draw conclusion on which is better.

I bet it won't be as good so that you have reason for 5D mark IV in next cycle update :D
The "BUY" virus is outbreak now. I meant to buy based on your need. The current line of Canon camera aren't that bad actually.

Nah, quite contented with what I have already. The only thing that sucks now is my poor skills to handle my existing gears.

But good to have better options when the need really arises. *especially when seeing other brands have it already (better shadow recovery) -_- *

Wonder how's the dynamic range like.

looking at the price, looks like the rumoured 5D4 will be more suitable for my budget

wow that lens cost a bomb.

It looks pretty impressive, but no where does it address the issue of dynamic range which is what most people contend the Canon sensors are lacking.

No where does it mention that the sensor is from Sony which several rumours claimed. The only reference to dynamic range is in the following sentence which, by itself, cannot be accurately interpreted:

"ISO 100-6400 sensitivity, further expandable to 50-12800, ensuring high quality images with low noise, accurate colours and wide dynamic range."

Yes, I agree. I am sure that will be the case especially with the scores of Canon testers who will come out and provide their own opinions about the new cameras.

Being a press release I doubt they will mention the sensor is from Sony (even if true) but I am with you. Assuming there will be a bigger dynamic range, it's strange it's not mentioned here other than a single line.

I am eagerly awaiting the release and testing of this camera, hopefully the current crop of lenses (Mk 2s) will be able to resolve such a high mp.
