fungus is like cancer. no matter how u chemo, there bound to have residual.

That's where the recurrence of the growth kicks in. Well, of course "re-process" the lens won't be in the prime shape it used to be when its new. :)

You are paying 1.7k for something that might look like trash and work like one as well. Unless it's a real antique lens, then it's worth restoring, but it isn't. And yupp i agree with brother Yoh. Fungus can come back again.

GMAN

Personal preference though. For me, 1.7K for that kind of lens and still require additional fees on cleaning it, forget about it.

Woo. Bro. You appeared again. This Sunday is tee collection hor. 2.30pm at City Hall MRT.

I think I should mass PM all.

And I agree that fungus will not grow under those conditions.

I was very busy for past few weeks.
This week I am not that busy, so I got time to visit here again.
Tmr will meet up with a seller for his 6mth old tamron 17-50mm F/2.8.

Fungus is really handy and it will come back soon even if you have cleaned it.

lens coating with a thin film processing is a controlled manufacturing process. if coating is partially removed, the whole lens surface needs to be grinded off in order to re-coat. most of the time, these fungus is remove with liquid-based solution and dried before reassembled back.

That's why they're hardly reliable. And the lens condition really reflects how the owner took care of that lens. :bsmilie:

Yeah, G10 is real nice. But i've got my Sony T200. Good enough for me.

The paint peel and stuff like that. How can anyone bear to do that to a lens.

Some paint peels were works of accidents. Nobody in the right mind would want to doll their L lenses in that way.

btw, this is partially true if exterior conditions are bang-up.
peeled off coating of a glass inside a lens cant be contributed by users.

btw, dont ever buy from pro photographers, be it lenses, cam body & flash. speaking from experience.
