And yes, there are 2 variants. Usually premium lenses are "Made in Japan" while some of the affordable ones are also "Made in Japan" too.

Wah tempted to get the tank lens. Haha. Tokina 10-17mm. Fish eye. Tokina has warranty for how long?

tammy is cheap & lightweight compare to sigma. u can get a very sharp copy.
canon is expensive and overrated piece of glass & heavy.
but canon has advantage at the wide end.
i hv no experience with sigma.

but if u dont need the f2.8, u can also consider 24-105/4L for its versatility.

Finally someone who agrees with me. Canon lenses can be overated at times. No choice. They force us to buy them. Unless other lens manufacturers can make a good Auto focus system on their lens, Canon still seems the only choice.


Tamron really needs to improve its AF.

I need the f2.8 at times. That's why I am considering that lens.

Brand new should hover around $500+ i think. There isn't a price for it, at the lens guide.

There's a new version. 167x zoom. The 128x zoom is cheaper. If you do the calculations, it's about a dollar per zoom. Haha.

but once bitten by L, u cant resist for more.. :bsmilie:

anyway, if u just starting out, i suggest go with tammy.
