what's your picture style in your camera? i assume you shoot jpeg? at standard , the colours will come out rather dull sometimes. you can just fix it easily in photoshop or picasa. hope it helped :D

Well i can suggest here is that you can try shoot in RAW instead of Jpeg.In RAW you can tweak on settings = have more control on colors, white balance, exposure, clarity, contrast & etc on a particular picture before going into Photoshop for further processing needs.
Also maybe in your 450D's main menu, u can set the color from sRGB to adobeRGB.There will be some difference.Hope it helps.:)

Hazy and grainy effect may be due to high ISO and low shutter speed etc.

I agree with lohkam that you should shoot with RAW so that you can still recover some lost details. However, if you picture is overexposed, then it is pretty hard to recover many details.

Care to share your gears and settings used?

true enough, i think i had my ISO set to auto (I thot i had it set at 200). Most of the photos were taken at 800, even in bright day, with 55-250mm. I checked that those taken with lower ISO generally does not have this problem.

I shall keep my ISO low next time, and try taking them RAW.
