Nissin Di622 looks attractive, but a little high on my budget side.

i bought the emora protector. its a 1.5mm thick piece of plastic that covers the whole LCD including the black border, and one side even comes silkscreen printed with the black border.

Good points: its thick, has one scratch-resistant side, and is held up by double-sided tape (provided) at the edges, so no chance of air bubbles.

Bad points: its so thick it sticks out from the camera body. i don't know if it will scratch or be scraped against anything it rubs against, or catch on something. the other problem is that its held up by normal double-sided tape, and might leave sticky residue on the LCD when removed. if you're using this, maybe you need to have another screen protector in place first.

if you want to get a screen protector for the lcd WITH the black border covered, go to John 3:16 and ask for them do a custom cut out to cover the black borders. i did mine for my 450D but a bit pricer compared to just a normal one. (i think was around $20)

Wah, that's a bit pricey.

its pricey, but its multi-layered, and scratch resistant. i got this installed by Leslie (custom-cut) at John 3:16, and it hasn't been scratched yet, even though i used all kinds of cloths (including my t-shirts) to wipe off the oily face deposits on the protector.

2nd hand at BnS can find from around $900 to $1000 depending on their condition and also the stuff the owners are throwing in.

1st hand, I supposed it might be around $1100 to $1200 range.

Kit lens will be 18-55mm IS.
