Just a little correction, hope you dun mind.

f/2.8 to f/4 is step down. ;)
No prob. I do know it's step down. Just to make life easier for the user, i say step up. Not to confuse him for the time being. Haha.

Haha.

Terms in photography do get people confused a lot of times.

Was wondering, if i should make a newbies guide to using the Canon 450D

Do you guys think its a good idea?

GMAN

hmm i think it'd be a good idea. maybe we'll collabrate on it like touch up on areas you missed/language ect & then get the mods to sticky it

Yupp, that's great. Request to all to throw in any information you would like to share to the new users of 2009, and i'll collaborate all of it and post it up. As well as request it to be a sticky.

Nice idea.

I will see what I can do on my part. :)

Hi all, those who wish to contribute to the 450D Starters Guide, can PM me within the next few following days. I'll try to compile them by Friday.

Thanks!

Upz....no information to contribute?

Definately a newbie in dslr.

Would appreciate if oldies can advise the setting for good night shot on city lights.

Going japan next week and really need to brush up my skills.

Also are the canon stuff there cheaper than sing?

Thanks!

You may want to use tripod for night photography.

Can handheld but not ideal.

Pardon me for frankness, the more we go out there and shoot, the more familiar we will be with the 450D. IMHO, 450D is already very simple to use. 4W1H on PASM, 3 variables, EV and WB, thats about it to get a decent photo.

Easy for you, easy for me, but not easy for everyone. It's also serves to help stop the endless repeated questions asked.

I'm looking to do some product photography in the near future and would like to use external flash units on my 450D.

Do you guys have any recommendation for a flash unit that works well with the 450D (ie. not overkill) as well as an external flash unit that can be triggered by the 450D's internal flash?

If you are doing product photography, a ring flash would be useful. Haven't heard of the internal flash being able to trigger external flashes before. It's usually the 580 EXII(Master) triggering other 430EXII(Slaves).

Not too sure about this though. Hope the others can help you out.

I didnt say it was easy. Its never easy from the start, but we start off somewhere. Practicing is one most popular recommendation found here.

Hello everybody, I have a problem with my viewfinder eye piece. When I remove my lens and look through the eye piece I can see some dust particles. I tried using a blower and clean the area above the mirror but the dust particles stills remain there. Will the dust particles affect my picture after I taken them?

if its not on the lens no. when the mirror flips up, the image goes thru the lens onto ur sensor, so the particle does not affect the pic if its not on the lens.
