I had this perception, that lenses with macro functions could do nothing else other than macro. Haha...i always had a bad feeling to my perception, that it was stupid and Canon isn't so dumb enough to make a lens with only 1 function and nothing else. I guess, my perception is wrong and it has been proven today. X.X

My friend, prime lens means it has a fixed focal length, in this case, its 100mm. It not really the function of the lens per se.

Actually there are many. You can find them on a mircoscope. Haha..i know its lame, but some microscopes use lenses from Nikon, Canon and Carl Zeiss. Cool right? You can achieve awesome macro. Haha.

Err...sorta. 5D cost at least/near $5000 if bought new.

Get a Lowepro Flipside 200 then. I bought a Lowepro Flipside 300 today. Looks great, feels great.

Should be about $30-$40 for the original ones and about $10-$20 for the 3rd party ones.

I know its a prime lens, i just didn't know that Macro lenses can shoot other things, apart from just macro photography. I do know that it can serve as a full loaded prime with macro functionality now. Sorry about my lack of intelligence.

I just got my Fastpack 350 last week.Is more into traveling kinda category.U should try Flipside if just want it for your camera n lens.

I have gotten myself a Tamron 70-300mm LD DI Macro 1:2 F4-5.6 (2nd hand) today.
It is quite ok with its price and I am pleased with its performance.
The 2x magnification macro function is a really good value added function for that price range.
Will try to share some pics later.

It is quite ok with its price and I am pleased with its performance.
The 2x magnification macro function is a really good value added function for that price range.

sorry dun mean to be a wet blanket or trying to be an a-hole by saying this, but the 1:2 is not 2x magnification...its only half. true macro lenses give 1:1 magnification (1x). just some useless info...
