The focusing distance and magnification ratio between a normal zoom against a macro lens are different though.
Zoom means, that your lens is a telephoto lens.
Example 55-250mm telephoto lens. Zoom means that the lens barrel can shift different distances. From 55mm to 250mm.
The 100mm macro lens, is like a prime lens. It cannot shift distances. It has a prefixed value of 100mm all the time. Macro, enables extreme closeups. Usually a lens needs some distance before it can focus. This distance is usually quite large. Not small enough to capture small subjects in detail. So what the Macro function does, is that it enables the lens to focus at a closer distance to capture the subject and the details.

but i guess HD movies are kinda expected to look like that ba..
i just thought its weird. i'd rather get a big zoom lens than a macro lens.
what would be a good shot with a macro lens?
