Canon seemed to be shifting abit on their strategy coming up with more or less affordable lenses these days - 10-18mm STM and 16-35mm f4L. Hmmm...

Of course there will be barrel distortion as with other UWA.

The 10-22 is just a touch better at controlling the barrel distortion\ as compared to the 10-18.

There' a native E mount uwa, why would you want to use a EF-s lens?

Pricing I guess. I already have a dumb EF-Nex adapter so this solution would cost half that of a used SEL1018, and a lot more less than a brand new piece. LOL

Haha I'm going to use it on a6000. Overall, I prefer using the SEL 10-18 but yes rather than buying a new SEL 10-18, this is a solution if you already have metabones. Otherwise, I would suggest you consider selling your metabones (not sure if you have use for it for other lenses) and get the SEL 10-18 instead.

Finally got my 10-18mm... but no time to use yet, busy with work, school and assignments. Anyway, it feels good... quick plasticky though, but don't have any squeak and creaks. The zoom ring and focus ring turned smoothly.

Like it alot so far.

It does look a little long. But otherwise no issue since it is very light. It is 15g heavier than the SEL 10-18 and after testing at 10mm on a6000 I think the sharpness is good, but the distortion is quite bad. I think a +5 distortion fix in CS6 should pretty much eliminate the distortion.

Nice. Thanks for the distortion adj too. Haha ive been thinking bout this combo for a while.

I dont think I will get a Metabones yet since AF is still pretty bad and I dont need it for landscapes (whenever I get back to doing more of that).. Fix the lens at f8 using a Canon body then can use already iirc.

Did the prices go up? I thought it was lower than $35x. My cousin got it at this price too.

I thought STM motor need electronic connection between the body and lens?

Need but I would only be MFing when using this lens for landscapes so thats not a big problem.

What I meant is STM is focus by wire, you'll need a electronic connection between the body and lens. I'd suggest you check this out first, since the 40 STM is focus by wire and it's highly likely that the 10-18 is focus by wire too.
