Canon EF 40mm F2.8 STM

I read that this lens has a bit of vignetting issue when shot wide open at f2.8. Anyone experienced this?

not only a bit but very obvious when using it on FF bodies.

I've seen some photos, The vignette actually gives a nice unique feel to the photos

Ya, that's why in the end I bought sigma 50mm.

Please pardon me if my question sounds noob, what does the "macro xx number" means on the lens .. ?

LR4.2 include the Profile Corrections for this lens, will remove distortion & vignetting :)

This is great... I'll have to upgrade soon.

I bought this lens, it look adorable on my 600d, lol :)

Whats the updated price for this baby?
Thanks

Owners,

How do you like your pancake? Worth the purchase or you rather return it?

I've owned it since August. I love the 'pancake look' when it's on my camera and the weight of the lens is very light. I also like the bokeh. I'm glad that I bought the lens and believe it was worth it especially since it wasn't a huge outlay of cash.

I bought it in July, took it with me to Toronto and shot about 10 pics before selling it to my co-worker (I actually lent it to her in Toronto, but forgot to take it back from her. Since she lives in Las Vegas and I live in Seattle, it was a hassle to get it shipped back to me, so I offered to sell it to her and she agreed). Nothing wrong with the lens, the images were very sharp, but at that time I rather have an 85mm, so I sold it for a $20 loss. I may get it again in the future.

Hahaha...kena bbb virus!

just bought this lens today.

first impression. really small and cute.

few questions:

when mounting to my 550D, it seems very hard to attach it. I need to apply some strength to rotate it until it fits. This didn't happen for 50 f/1.8 II. Is this caused by the metal mount?

second thing is, this is first FTM lens I have used. The FTM function seems only can be activated in one-shot mode and half pressing shutter button? Is this normal for all FTM lens or only this one?

Thanks!

Some lenses are harder to rotate, some seem looser, at least that's the case with the 4 lenses I have. I won't worry too much about it. As for FTM, all my lenses have FTM and they don't need half press shutter button, so it differs. FTM is only for one-shot mode.
