Just to share a photo taken with this lens with my 5D3. Was in Chinatown over the weekend and managed to take the lens out for a short spin. 67mm, F2.8 1/160, ISO1600, AF point is between the cat's eyes. Shot in raw converted to jpg using LR with no editing.

The next photo shows a crop of the top right-hand corner.

Strange, the second crop is quite noisy at only iso 1600 for 5dmk3.
Highlight tone priority enabled ?

I think so.

I have a friend who always buys from there. And since they do provide 1 year warranty with cost reimbursed to you if serviced by csc, should not be a problem. Only thing is the price diff is not alot compared to local set.

Just got a local copy. First impression, it is much smaller and lighter than mk1. The lens feel solid, with a good Matt finish. Even the lens hood come with a "lock".

Does highlight tone priority increase noise?

It increases the iso...so noise increases

HTP increase ISO? I thought only DRO (Dynamic Range Optimizer) increase noise...

Well i read in the manual that htp increases the iso to 200..so if course noise would increase in certain conditions..quote from manual..."with setting 1(which is enable htp) noise may become slightly more pronounced than usual"

Yes when you turn on HTP the lowest ISO you can go is 200. The camera tries to prevent blowing out of highlights by upping ISO. HTP helps abit but it also means sometimes there's more noise.

On this htp, file size also get bigger.

Personally I don't think ISO 200 on FF is not going to be a noise issue.
