Canon EF 24-70 VERSION 2 WHEN?

sure or not...

sure.. decided that my lens should be 1x UWA zoom and 1x telezoom.. the in between ones.. I think the most applicable for me is primes.. 35mm, 50mm and 85mm :)

Maybe when you see the result and the photo from 24-70mm II.... we will hear a different story.......

It happens..... :bsmilie:

When it cost less than $2k street.. then maybe. I've already seen some sample pictures already..

And for the mid focal range.. I seriously prefer primes. 35mm and 85mm is seriously too poisonous :bsmilie:

Same thoughts with bro avsquare, one UWA zoom, one prime, one telezoom, plus a couple of teleconverters and you're good to go for most applications, something like: 16-35, 50, 70-200, 1.4x, 2x. Unless its a specific type of shoot and you need a certain effect, then primes for that application.

Only in cases where you don't have time to change lenses, and you need something on the go, then the 24-70 is it.

yup.. same thoughts.. for me.. alternating between landscapes and portraits meant UWA and the 70-200 for me. The middle range.. I doesn't seem to touch it these days. Maybe when you only want one lens during travel, then I guess a 24-105 would be the best choice instead. ;p

Yeah, 24-70mm is a bit limited for travel these days.

Yes. 24-105mm in on my camera and in bag either a 17-40 or a 70-200. but I am thinking of just a prime 24L or 35L on camera and with just 70-200 in the bag. Have anyone tried that?

No lah.

The best one lens solution is the 28-300L!

Yes but I rather take the lighter Nikon version. ;-)

It all depends on the purpose of travel. If you are travelling for photographic opportunities, I'm sure you will bring your entire kit.

If it is for relaxation or with family, I don't think you'll need a 70-200. An UWA and low-light prime like 35L/50L are good enough.

Anyone spot the new lens at authorised dealer today? I called one but said stock not in yet.

I'd rather keep it at home than bring it out if I had to use this lens handheld! Monopod highly recommended.
