Hmmph.... Sounds like a good deal to me, this Privileged Purchase programme. Just want to check, with the discounts given, is it cheaper than getting from outside? Coz the retail price is always quite high. Also, is it all current models will be available for this programme. Looks like need to check out the price first before going. Thanks.

Hi tortise, just wonder the trade in compact PnS can be the film type or only digital?

Is this a year round program? Or for certain time of the year? I have a spoiled 350D I would like to trade in. Do they accept any canon DSLR purchased from say ebay? Thanks.

maybe I should trade in my A620 for an SX 10 IS

Just found out frm the canon website that the promotion (with freebies like SD card) has ended on 7 June. Does this apply to the buy back programme?

As far as I know, the freebies entitled to is based on the order date (you will not receive the new camera on the spot) where you trade-in the old camera and pay for the new one

With the conclusion of the previous promotion, there will definitely be a new replacement, especially since this Thursday to Sunday is the PC Show.

In fact, my brother will be waiting till Thursday or Friday to do so.

Hmm.. I call this morning to trade in my spolit DC.
The canon service guy say, come with the freebies

my pop up flash don work..tot of bringing down to see if can trade in for an upgrade...doubt so since its a minor fault

just bring it down.
If need to pay for the parts, u might else consider trade in.

I believe they are ok for it.

Let me clarify. Based on my experience so far it is 21% off RRP, because asked the pricing of 6-7 models and compared the quotes to the RRP. Prcoedure is this - I give the PNS camera I am trading in to Canon, and choose the model i want from the list of available models (it can be a PNS model or a xxxD model). They will quote a price.

So if RRP for the model is say $100, the price quoted will be around $79.

I have never used a DSLR for the trade in, only PNs so far. Model is A70. Confirmed verbally with the staff at CSC that any Canon PNS model in any condiiton is acceptable.

A70 is way back in time where PNS is up to 3.1mp. Hope this helps.

pardon my ignorance, but I think if you buy outside, the prices are approx 15-20% or more off the RRP anyway. doesn't make alot of sense to lose a camera and still pay more than what you'd pay outside.

50D
Recommended Retail Price: SGD 2099.00
Street Price: ~SGD1650

It depends on the model you are purchasing and the discount for trade-in of Pns applies up to 500D only.

In the case of 500D Kit 1, I don't think you can get $1167 anywhere.

Just traded in a very old Canon Prima II (film type camera) for a 500D. They will notified me within 2 weeks to collect the camera. Costs is $1111 (including GST). It will come with 8GB memory card, bag and a Len book.

The staff there did not bother to check the old camera. It is really worth it if u have any old camera to trade in. Ask around your friend if u do not have.

Wow. Sounds like a good deal. Then I will trade in my classic original fatty Digital Ixus for the deliciously slim 100 IS or maybe the SX200 IS. Yummy!

But where to do the procedure of "priviledged purchase"? The first storey or the svc centre on the 4th?

4th floor. Service centre. Call them to ask for the price b4 going down. In fact when I call them 3 days ago, they quote me $1167. Not sure the price when down is due to the PC show or the YEN exchange rate.

Price drop is reflective of the PC Show price.

Price is after 21% discount and a few dollars administrative charge perhaps.

hi all, is it that I can't collect the new camera on the spot..? What will be the fastest time i can collect it..? Because I'm planning to bring the new cam next wed for my overseas trip. Sigh if i can't get it before wed... :(
