How much is the discount? Do they accept trade-ins like the Canon EOS 630? Does the discount apply to the 50D ?

I traded in a spoiled A95 for S5 IS last year. Can't remember now but I believe the RPP is around 699 and I got it at 500 or slightly less with the usual free gift. They have a list of camera trade in price for different model.

my gf got her IXUS 100IS at S$373 - traded her 850IS which the lens is damaged (cannot close). :P repair = S$195..... so decided to trade in.

Included the 8GB card, case, etc.

=)

Canon E1 is the new one right? release November last year. Still quite new to be traded-in.

Is it possible to trade in Multiple number of PnS for another cam. Like 3 spoilt PnS then bigger discount? or is it limited to 1 only?
Only one way to find out, give Canon Service Centre a call.

But it's closed today :(

Anyway, it's good to know that there's this buy-back program from Canon! Hehe.. think I'm going to trade in my Canon PS A610 for the Canon EOS 500D kit... :D

weird lei..i email the svc a few weeks back..they say they don do trade in or buy back..ask me to go penisular there check w those shops

I sent in my old 10D for repair 1.5 years back. Some shutter issue. The assessment was that it was clearly beyond economic repair. I took up the offer by Canon to purchase the 40D at an unbeatable price (which was below the street price) and at the same time got rid of the expensive paper weight. Note that they don't have ready stock and you need to order and collect later.

Perhaps the staff who replied you wasn't aware of the programme, its called Privileged Purchase. Call them up and enquire.

Called canon today to ask .. The program is still on. However, they do not do active trade in .. meaning ... if there is nothing wrong with your camera, they will not do trade in for you. I guess you can cook up some lousy excuse for your camera and see what they say ..... but they will not reveal much on the phone except that come down to the service centre and let the technician advice you ... To prevent abuse of the system I guess.

Sounds reasonable.

no trade in for perfect working cond. cameras? hmmmmm...

should i "spoil" my 300D for the 50D then...

with the camera, do we need to bring along charger, CD, battery , warranty card etc etc etc ?

Lend to me maybe bro? Want to try one of those classic Canon SLR :D
Sorry OT

EOS 88 is not a "classic SLR". By "classic" I would assume you're referring to the old, manual focusing, manual winding SLRs.

Don't need to bring anything except the camera.
in fact, they will return ur media card (SD/CF, etc) & battery.

of coz u need the media card and battery for them to diagnose lah.

just the camera is fine.

Need advise. Lost touch of equipment sales already. 350D change 500D worth? or change to 50D?

what kinda of photos are u taking?

I was stuck at a dilemma between 50D and 500D.

In the end, I chose 500D.

For a few reasons:
1) 500D is newer, with HD video function
2) 500D is cheaper (duh!) and suits my current needs (still photography, landscape, etc.)

What I suggest is you try both cameras.
They are different in handling (500D - more like IXUS for controls, 50D is wheel based)

If you take a lot of sports and movement sort of photos - no questions asked - go for a 50D.

Hope this clarifies.

i just called to check on the Privileged Purchase programme. Just to share some details i clarified:

1. Can trade in working or spoilt models of Canon cameras
2. If trading in a compact (PnS), can only apply the discount to PnS and DSLR up to EOS 500D.
3. If trading in a DSLR, can apply the discount up to EOS 50D, so not applicable for 5D, 1D etc models.
4. I wasn't told the amount of discount, but seems like around 20% range. suspect they need to see the camera we send in and intend to buy for a quote.

So not very useful for me, but maybe for my Bro-in-law who is intending to get a 500D sometime soon. :)

after yrs of service , my A80 decide to retire.

Sent to canon for service. They say the service charge will be $225.

Canon lady suggest me to trade in for a new camera.
She quote me a model photoshoot A1100 @ $261 (RR $329)
I don't find any thread of this model.
Any one use this model before?
Any commend?
