Canon 7D Mark II - Specifications

imo there is not much incentive for current 7D owners to change to the mkII version. as a 7D owner myself, I would definitely look at 5DmkIII as an upgrade for the FF sensor instead of looking at another APS-C...

There's plenty of incentive cuz:

1) I don't want to spend 15k on to get a 400/2.8 reach on a FF when I can get 480mm equiv on crop sensor with f2.8 using a much cheaper and lighter 300/2.8. Yes I can crop the FF but that wastes processing time and you lose valuable pixels.
2) 10fps (rumored) vs 6fps is a big deal. If you burst often you will realise that you are getting probably 60-80% of your maximum burst rate in practical shooting, depending whether you set it to tracking priority or burst priority.

Anyway, as the rumours suggests this camera is targeting the sports and wildlife shooters who cannot afford a 1DX. FF vs APS-C is not so much of a big deal when it comes to telephoto application. And to that end this segment does make perfect sense. The success/failure of this camera will shape the fate of the APS-C DSLR in a FF-obsessed community.

hehehe i do have a 1div with shutter count of 9k plus, potentially looking to release on CS classifieds.

Not easy to find one with a shutter count less than 15-20k for 3.6k-4k

Yes, very few are even less than 50,000. I guess the reason is because the 1D4's are mostly owned by professionals who use their cameras for a living and therefore shutter counts are on the high side.

At the same time, because it is a 1D series camera, the rated average shutter life is high at 300,000 actuation's.

no lah, one squeeze is 10fps high fps so if normal user use 5k at 5fps then it will be 10fps on 1d4 haha....also you dont buy a 10fps cam to shoot mostly 1 shot at a time, right?

fast fps is good but that will also mean AF accuracy is equally important else capture the moment but slight blurry shot. thus i hoping 7d2 can improve on this area.

Thanks. These specs looks more like it. If Canon does not release the 7D2 soon, I will have to get the D7100 to add to my D3100 and D5100 and change my Canon supertele to a Nikon one.

wah..you will lost alot by switching with supertele unless all your existing lens are bought used. canon hinted the cam is around the corner. so instead of concern on the relase timing, i think the concern is whether the 7d2 spec will cut corner

The loss will be huge. But I think Canon will delight us with the 7D2. :sweatsm:

After the past few product releases by Canon, I can't shake the feeling that they are going for max profit with min features product releases...If the specs is like mentioned above, I think prob Canon will add another $600-1000 to the prev 7D release price...

I agree. A price increase is definitely in the cards especially with all the talk about the 7D2 being a pro grade camera.

I am a cow, ready to be milked. What choice is there? :dunno:
