Canon 7D Mark II - Specifications

I would hazard a guess and say the 7DmkII will be very close to what these rumoured specs are. And the 70D will be a up-res'd 7D at 24MP with most of the features of the original 7D, minus the weather proofing build. A build quality closer to the 40D/50D/60D.
Its a camera they will target to be priced below the D7100 and the 7DMkII one that will compete head-on with the long overdue D400.

I would agree particularly since the rumour was given a CR2. However, I hope that Canon gives us a surprise in providing 2 alternative models in the same fashion that Nikon did with their D800/D800E.

Another alternative is to provide the 7D2 with a choice of either the APS-C or APS-H sensors. One model could be called the Canon 7D Mark 2C and the other model the Canon Mark 2H.

You are really hopeful. :)

LOL! Yeah that's true, I'm a very hopeful and optimistic person. But if it doesn't happen... no sweat... no worries... life goes on. ;)

One major groundbreaking specs i would like to see in the future for DSLR body is the weight, make it as light as possible without compromising specs. If Canon could work on this I'm sure it will be leader innovation, wish they have a Steve Job in their R&D team. hee...

Yup, agree. They should think of a way to reduce the weight on dslr bodies. One solution is to made it from carbon fiber.

Bad idea. As light and strong Carbon Fiber is, it is a brittle material. Its not gonna be pretty if it takes a drop or huge knock :p

Not to mention cost of cf...unless they end up using titanium..or they fuse both to become carbontanium.....Like pagani huayra..I think that urself will cost more than the camera itself..best is still aluminum..until they find a way to make it lighter other than using poly carbonate

Aluminium is not a good material for camera bodies... it is too soft and malleable. So far Magnesium Alloy is still the best balance between strength, cost and weight.

Wah...is Carbontanim the closest we can get to Adamantium?

Unless u ask the Japanese katana makers to create some new light weight forged metal

imo there is not much incentive for current 7D owners to change to the mkII version. as a 7D owner myself, I would definitely look at 5DmkIII as an upgrade for the FF sensor instead of looking at another APS-C...

As a fellow 7D user... I am looking at a 6D.....

depends what you are shooting, i still hoping for a good crop cam despite owning a 5d3.

Why wait for 7D2? Get a 1D4 on BnS now. APS-H with 10 fps. Isn't this what you guys are wanting for 7D2? :)

most user of 7d is hoping for AF system like 5d3 and improvement of usable of high iso by 2stops, may be dr improvement, fps increase does not to be the top priority and pricing cheaper than a used 1d4

How much is a used 1D4 now?

quick check at recent bns, asking usually about 3.6-3.7k but actual deal price, should direct to manwearpants, think he just sold a unit.

Not easy to find one with a shutter count less than 15-20k for 3.6k-4k

Yes, very few are even less than 50,000. I guess the reason is because the 1D4's are mostly owned by professionals who use their cameras for a living and therefore shutter counts are on the high side.

At the same time, because it is a 1D series camera, the rated average shutter life is high at 300,000 actuation's.
