Canon 7D. Home run? Disappointment?

Actually Canon didn't intend to design the 7D, it was accidental: you see, a 50D walked up to a 1Dmk3 sitting at a bar one day and said "What's a fine body like you doing in a dump like this?" One thing led to another and wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, 9 months later we have a 7D...

Definitely, but camera's prices defer in diff countries, Sweden Uses Swedish kronars, not sure whats the exchange rate tho

I got the price from a sweden photo shop website, www.japanphoto.se

Stated 25,985SEK which is ard S$5212..depend on exchange rate..currently is ard S$1 to 4.986SEK..Camera price here is really not cheap..cos i staying here for few yrs..i can only wait to go back spore to buy my lenes..haha.,

Actually it will be less than that amount... bodies sold in Japan is normally quite ex... I reckon that is the retail price... might not be street price...

Many have been trying to find out how the AF tracking of the new Canon 7D is. Well, here you go:

Looks promising. Only one frame out of focus (I think) in photo 14 of sample 7. The rest of the pictures look sharp at the given resolution.

I can't remember if i've already said it (losing my mind and memory), but there are some features that i like and some which i think are unnecessary.

For me personally, the 5D still suits me better.

I think the feature that really wowed me about 7D is 100% viewfinder. I know the new sony FF is only 98% and they(sony) admitted that to achieve that last 2% is very difficult and would push the cost even higher.

It's probably extra hard to do that for FF cameras since the sensors are large. This requires large prisms I believe.

Cuz you need larger prism. Somemore got to put in the pop-up flash. I really wonder how Canon can have the flash and weather sealing at the same time.

Quick poll on 7D's specs.

Did Canon outdo themselves this time round? Did the final product live up to the hype? OR is it a disappointment?

Did Canon put up a good product considering the spanking new offerings from the other big players? (Nikon 300s/ Sony Alpha 850)?

Well, whether Canon hits the nail on the head depends on how it prices its 7D: If its gonna be priced expensive, then too bad. If its gonna be priced reasonably, maybe slightly higher than the 500D, then we've got a winner! But then chances are.... 80% of bros will be waiting for the 7D price to drop before going in for the BBB. Its has fantastic specs though.. Its just the price...:bigeyes:

I think 7D is not to replace xxD, but to fill in between 1D and xxD. Hmm... may be 1D will go FF??

the pictures sure looks good. but is it really sthg a 50D or even a 40D can't achieve? no right?
