Canon 6D

I've had my 24-105 for a couple of years now and no issues. It must be a sporadic problem. Are there any specific date codes associated with this issue?

I don't know coz I had this problem on my 24-105 back in early 2010. After that never used 24-105 again till now I find it's such a good deal for the 6D kit.
I did a google search and it seems like ppl are still discussing about this issue in 2012. That's why I'm not so sure if it's fixed in the new production.
But I'm in such a dilemma now, I only have 2 lens left: 50L and 100L. 24-70 is out of stock for now. Seems like either 35L or Sigma 35mm is the only choice for me?
17-40 is not so good coz I find it's quite slow (f/4) but I do need a wide lens. ClickCamera offers PWP promotion too.
Haha. So in short, still very confused about which lens to go with the 6D.

I would go with the 24-105. Unless your luck is very bad, you shouldn't have any problems. Regardless, you're covered with a 1 year warranty. The vast majority of issues happen during the first year. I really don't think that the issue is all that common otherwise it would be discussed far more frequently than it is. Besides, any of the lenses that you are considering could potentially be defective. Purchasing any item is a risk, albeit it is a relatively small one in most cases. The Canon 24-105 lens is no exception. The risk is in your favour. Good luck with your decision.

Do you need a 24-105/4 or not? It's rather simple. I'm not attracted to that lens, wouldn't buy it.

I find the 24-105 can be used more often than 35mm (at the 24-end). That's why I think I prefer the 24-105 coz I never use 35mm before :D
As for portrait and macro, I think the 50L and 100L do the job already.

If you like the IQ, go for it.

Is it Sigma 30mm f/1.4? Never used sigma before :D
BTW, what do you guys think of the error code 01 issue with 24-105? Still lots of ppl are buying 24-105?

Not the Sigma 30mm f1.4. That's for crop sensors. The new Sigma 35mm f1.4 for FF.

Yeah I think I'd go for it then. Moreover, 2 year and 6 month warranty? not like 15 month warranty from Canon. Never know Sigma is that good =))

The jury is still out on this lens but certainly seems very promising n it had a very good mini-review by lensrental.com.

Any member got the 6D? :)

Just saw Canon improved the focusing brightness range in live view shooting for the 6D, it's EV 0 - 20 now compared to EV 1 - 18 for the 5D Mark III. Well, only interesting for the few people who use live view from time to time. :)

Very tempted to go FF on the 6D but requires almost total change-over of everything, from bag to filters. And I thought I'm done with the BBB thingy...

Body is not an issue but deciding which lens to go with is bit of headache... cost of the 24-70 f/4 is ridiculous but I really like the new coatings. Has a different feel and seems to clean more easily compared to the older ones.
UWA for me is a must so need to get the 16-35Mk2 L as well which is gonna bleed my pocket further. 82mm filter some more... haiz...

Giving myself 6 months to think it over while they work out any possible initial issues. Also can see what Canon can comes up with on the APS-C front.

Only way to stop BBB is stop reading these posts!

Wise to wait for six months. Keep an eye out for the 7D Mark II expected to be announced in February.

Im also going for 16-35mm mk2 + 6D for my traveling overseas setup. Add a 50mm f1.8. very flexible can shoot landscape to street to low light and very light!

I'm in the same boat as you. 50D was my old camera and I've already sold off everything in anticipation of going FF. I also like UWA but will definitely need to put on hold, or maybe skip 16, for 17-40. Anyway, I never had any L lenses, so really looking forward to better quality lenses. If I went with the 60D or 7D2, would definitely be reluctant to buy new lenses!

Click! Cameras and MS Color has announced that 6D will arrive at their shop within these few days...

This is the pricing:

Canon 6D Body Only: S$2650
Canon 6D Kit (EF24-105 f/4L USM): S$3530
Canon 6D Kit II (EF24-70 f/4L USM): S$4240*please note Canon has not brought this Kit into SG yet.

seems Click!camera is giving the best price so far. SLRRevo & PS $8 more expensive.

unfortunately for me, I need to wait for batch 2 since I am off for my vacation tomorrow
