Canon 60D: Homerun or Disappointment?

The normal AF is pretty fast and accurate... use it with Sigma 50 F1.4 wide open and it is still pretty sharp... contrast wise I haven't taken a shot yet... Looks ok just that is pretty slow...

I will try later on my mahjong table... wahaha! Let u guys know later... Pai seh ahh... now busy with the star search competition...

"My 60D sucks. After using it for around 3 weeks and putting probably 6-7K shots on it, something very annoying keeps happening.... So here's the problem... the damned thing keeps delivering stunning images in the worst of conditions. Now something has to be wrong here because this camera is supposed to be the worst thing Canon ever made, so I've had to spend alot of money on a psychologist. It would have been cheaper to switch brands at this point...

It is very easy to achieve such mileage. I snap off over 1600 pics a few hours per evening when covering sport events with 7D. Albeit a 60D has lower continuous frame rate, but that does not stop a photographer from working on as much opportunity as possible.

However, most would be throw-away images.

I have been drilled too much in film mentality... I will go quality over quantity.... but sports is harder to shoot actually.... and the % for keeper will drop...

I too have machine blasted over 1000 shots in just a few hours. I don't do it very often and try to avoid such situations by remembering that the the average life of the shutter is only 150,000 actuations for the 7D.

I tried looking for the average shutter life of the 60D but couldn't find it. Anybody know?

Read somewhere before that the shutter for 60D is the same as 550D and rated only at 100,000.

That makes sense. And since the 50D was rated at 100,000 it makes even more sense.

Ive handled the 60D and its grip and plasticky material isnt bad as it seems. Better than the 5xxD and very simillar to Sony's a5xx.

Hi 60D users, can i check how long does the battery usually last for taking stills vs for video. Does closing the articulated screen save battery?

Also, can it take video with direct power source as in power cable?

He is using a 60D. There is no such thing as a Nikon D3xyz... he was making it up. He also said that he was using a pre-release model which are generally not available available to average users. Yes, he is definitely using a 60D.

I heard the very same thing on DPReview! Lenses that were back or front focused on previous Canon models are now working perfectly on the 60D. This makes the need for micro adjust unnecessary!

In fact by now, it would have been normal to hear of focusing issues on this new model. But it hasn't happened with the 60D.

I wonder what Canon did to achieve this? If they have incorporated new technology or improved their QA, it is a step in the right direction! :thumbsup:
