I think u should buy both then the poison is totally neutralized... wahaha! ;p

For me the AK 47 (Canon 60D) is good enough for me... the GPMG (Canon 7D) is overkill... haha! Anyway, I don't really shoot sports unless it is company event... But of course if my company sponsor a GPMG to me... I will never reject... wahaha!

Buy both??? If I buy, it would be like 60D/7D with 5DII.....

But now... not hooting yet... waiting till next Jan-Feb period to hoot.... and maybe some price would drop also.....

GPMG is good, but for me, I do not need it too, but the fast AF is useful for photojournalist street shooting style... and for event.... it is important with fast AF.... things happen in a moment and if your cam is slow AF.. that's it... happened to me a few time liao..... and I do not think 60D AF is as fast, as bro SumoBear shared his review of 60D AF speed with me.....

Still it is not decided yet, and for me, if the price drop to my comfort level for 7D, I would hoot.... 5DII is most likely 5+ yrs away for me.....

I agree with ya regarding the fast AF... the correct moment could be there only a few milliseconds... once it is gone then it is really gone. BTW, lens play a part too... for me 60D works great with my 24-105. A bit slow on other 3rd party lens... 7D would be even better as long u are comfortable with the price and the weight. I would find 7D very useful for sport since I can select a few spots in the center to AF. Definitely not easy using 1 point only and tracking a fast moving subject.

Just my opinion... 60D is good enough for hobby purpose. It is light with a swivel screen for creative composition... 7D or 5Dmark2 will be good for professional work due to its fast AF and IQ respectively... :-D Hehe! It all boils down to how much u demand from your DSLR...

Anyone knows the top LCD panel plastic/glass can be replaced??? Accidentally scratched it... Heart pain...

I think any lens with USM should be ok for fast AF.... 60D AF is faster than my 400D... but still... the 7D is the best in AF for crop body.... I am ok with the 7D weight... but that's only in show room... if shoot whole day, it would be different, and I prefers the 7D grip... as it is thicker.... and better..... Price wise, I am hoping to see the competition push it down buy some hundreds.....

To track and shoot only one spot is a challenge, and even then, for my 400D, I have a lot of missed shots too.... so I can only say that this is best with the AF of a 7D....

For me, the swivel screen is not something I like personally, and so, I can do without.... If I go for the 7D, it offers the following over a 60D.... I am not a video person... so I wish you can have 7D without video at cheaper price... :bsmilie:

1. Faster AF, focusing points... and cross sensors 19 vs 9 points...
2. 100% VF... almost...
3. Grid line
4. GPMG (8 vs 5.3 fps)
5. Build (Plastic vs magnesium)
6. CF
7. Dual digic 4 vs digic 4....

and all these are at over $800 different between 60D & 7D.... if it is less than $500, it is very easy for me to decide... Or if it drop to almost $600, I will hoot 7D too....

The 100% VF is quite important to me cos I am really dislike 95% VF and I have a lot more editing to do...... as I do frame edge to edge......and a lot of extra went in...

Agree with ya... if 7D is much cheaper then it is a very good buy. $800 more for the extra features u mention above doesn't seems to worth it. Guess having a GPMG powered FPS and 19 cross type sensors cost a lot in terms of technology development. If not wrong Canon drop their prices of the DSLR by $100 during each price revision. Guess u have to wait quite a while before it reaches your target price (about $1900 for the body). But then... the 60D would have drop its price too. If that is the case... the $800 gap will always be there...

Well... as USM have mentioned before, I have also checked out the other brand range, the D700 will be coming, and the Sony... is it A55 that comes with 10 fps, and even faster than 7D!!!! I think that is also cheaper than the 60D if I am not wrong... so I do think and hope for a price war.... and so.... I thought of waiting it out and see the show.... ;)

Hehe... u should try touching the A33 or A55... I tried the A33 and that is like a plastic toy... the electronic viewfinder is pretty awkward too...

Hehe... actually I was waiting for the price war too but I need a new cam soon for my coming trip so that's I bite the bullet earlier... Having fun ever since! Wahaha! :D

Anyway... good luck to ya... hopefully the Nikon D7000 can pull down the price of 7D... ;)

I only touched the Sony today..... and my conclusion.... it is so weird.... ergonomic is funny, and the material of the body is....... as you mentioned..... toy-like.... It did not feel like a camera at all... and I thought that I was playing with a plastic toy..... Though the camera function is superior...... picture quality is not bad.... when I look from the VF.... it look just like toy...

As I am not in a hurry, I can just wait and see how it goes, and meanwhile..... just continue with my 400D...... if the price drop before my trip in Mar, it is best... if not, I will just get the 60D in Feb as I need a month to explore the cam.....

When is your trip and where you going????

Hehe... I going to HCMC, Vietnam on 2nd Nov till 6th Nov. Same here... need about a month to try try the camera before going for my trip... I bought the camera just in time for the Star Search photo contest... I was struggling to switch to ISO 100 as there got studio lighting for me to try it out... FYI u need to disable Highlight tone prority in order to use ISO 100 or 12800 and Auto Lighting Optimizer... Same for 7D if ya going to buy that once it reach the correct price. ;)

The Pentax K5 is exceptionally good and is out. go see the wonderful photos at the Pentax section. The Nikon D7000 should be out soon to be followed by the Oly E5. These are going to force the 7D pricing down, I am sure.

Bro

How much is the Pentax going for???? D7000 is in 7D category... are the E5 and K5 from the same segment???? Or is it from the 60D segment??? I think after 60D intro, the price could drop soon....

Well..... hope the 7D will drop too.... question is by how much......

I'm now thinking whether I should upgrade my 550D body to a 60D as the swivel LCD screen is tempting me.. plus I the top LCD which shows the rules of third is what I would like to have.. haiz..sigh...:sweat:

HCMC... cool.... do grab more pictures and show us!!!!

Star Search contest.... did not know about that... maybe must keep my eyes big big in future and look out for all these...

Is highlight tone priority for still or videos??? I am not familiar with the term....

I think if get 7D.... maybe need more than a month to study the manual as compared to the 60D, the 7D have more functions right????

Price if is right, I will not hesitate...... but by then, 60D will also drop some more.... hahah... :bsmilie:

Forget to add----- the Sony Lens design is not to my liking too... and also, the feel......

I have been searching for an APS-C to back up my Canon FF for almost 6 months. So far, the Pentax K5 has impressed me most. Take a look at the images posted. So far, from all the 60D and 7D threads, I have yet to see images comparable to what I see these 2 days of the new Pentax K5, not only here but world wide.

Are you only upgrading for the swivel LCD only???? I think it does not seems so worth just to upgrade for it... but if you do your sums properly and think that it is ok for you to afford it, then bro, go for it man!!!!

You mean the LCD have the 1/3 grid lines???? But not in the VF right????

Bro, are you looking to maintain 2 systems???? But I read that the Pentax owner have problems getting lens or accessories as not all shops have it.....

Or wait for the Canon Digic V????

Although I have a Canon FF, I don't own a single Canon lens, but infact, I have 2 Pentax lenses, that's why I can go Pentax.

Not only the swivel LCD screen.

Actually there are also other features I'm considering.

1. Swivel screen makes it easier for me to shoot at unique angles. Especially when I'm shooting buildings and architecturals

2. Faster AF and 9 point crossed is a plus point as I do manually select some of my points in the VF.

3. Better Grip.. Somehow I prefer a better grip in the body, I will use a battery grip togeter with it..

4. Faster frame per second.. I like to shoot cars especially panning shot, thus a faster frame per second body would be a plus point for me.

????? So are you using an adapter??? So if that is the case, I am sure that jumping to pentax is good choice for you... :)

1. The swivel screen are functional and useful..... for Macro shots, I think it is just as useful... but I just dislike a swivel screen as I think it is flimsy....

2. Most important is the cross focus pt and helps a lot in shooting when selecting pts for shooting..... I am using pts and have a challenge at time with non-cross pts...

3. The grip alone is enough of a reason to get the 60D in my opinion... as I have challenge with my 400D all the time, and now... hoping to get a replacement and relief myself from the 400D grip issue...

4. Should be good enough for a lot of sporting events and open another window for you.
