Canon 5D mk3 in Spring

Yes, I was wondering this too. My 7D can do it, so hopefully the 5D3 will be able to do it too... but then again the 7D has the built in flash which acts as the triggering agent.

There is a new wireless trigger launched alongside the m3, the ST-E3 I think. That might be a clue to the answer.

Wonder if anyone noticed that canon also announced a GPS module? It will work with the m3 n 7D.

I think the CP-1 shop staff is bluffing me, I guess many means ard 20? I don't think can exceed 50, it's an expensive cam after all. Shop like SLRR only got 5,6 ppl in the queue, don't think it's that "many" as CP-1 ppl said

I am just curious how many... as I will not preorder without even knowing the price... unless it is those agency, Studios, Press house, etc...... who have the bucks.....

But I think Cathy have a lot of old and regular customers who have $$ and network... so I will not be surprised.....

I know but my point was the price. Even without deposit it won't make the camera any cheaper. Sure, you don't need to pick it up in the end but I guess you can get a better price if you get a quote after the price got announced here. Well, I never pre-ordered a camera here. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong.

If other stores also don't charge, then you might as well put your name across many stores and first come, first buy.... then cancel all the rest.

I think there are two groups of people who preorder. The first will buy it regardless of price. The second will hedge n decide when the price is announced, just in case the price is within an acceptable threshold.

Firmware upgrade for 7D will be required if IIRC. Wish it will work with 5D2 as well.

Test charts aside, have u guys seen the sample images from canon's website? Frankly if I were to use these real world pictures as reference, the ISO and noise performance of the 5D3 at 3200 and 6400 isn't something which the current 5D2 & 1D4 couldn't do. And in terms of details wise, the level of details isn't as Impressive as canon made it out to be i.e. it's not a far cry from the level which the 5D2 and 1D4 could resolve.

To add salt to the wound, canon still refuses to give uncompressed video thru the 5D3!!! This is something which Nikon did right! And oh, Did I mention that the compressed video quality of 5D2 and 1D4 sucks? Oh yea, you can quote all the famous big names and all the big movies which are created by them, but heck the quality to me just cannot make it...

Give you uncompressed video, and who is going to buy their higher end video camera? Nikon has no video division to worry about and as it is nobody has seen the uncompressed video quality of Nikon yet. If Nikon can't handle jello, moire well on the onboard video codec, you will probably get high quality jello and moire in uncompressed quality

The other problem I need to see more test shots before I decide between the Canon and the dark side. I have almost no investment in full-frame lenses fortunately, only 12 years old EF 50mm F1.8 II and EF 22-55mm F4-5.6 USM. lol

can't make it to you. You must have pretty high standards.

5d mkii video quality already not bad. In fact i would say very good. I would expect canon to further improve the video function in mk iii. The uncompressed video output will be a wonderful feature and don't think it will really hurt their video division business. Ignoring the quality of video, All the video features and function in the canon DSLR are quite basic.

Heh, it is a bit OT, but here you go. Shot using the 7D with EF-S 10-22. It's a building in Moscow called the Historical Museum. It's located on one end of the Red Square, opposite St Basil's Cathedral.
